And I thought Google Street View project was abandoned in India due to security concerns raised by few and a stay order from the court.

This is going to be a big issue. The Americans have everything in their hands now. I think google's street view is made solely for the purpose of serving their own cunning intentions. It's almost sure that one day they will use this information in a negative way.
Court should take strict action against these spy works. Nothing is greater than national security. If the data collected by this way get into wrong hands, then it will be a great disaster.

We already have video maps, probably not the same precision or quality as google street view but something which serves the purpose - VidTeq - Navigation made easy | Video Maps for Bangalore | Location Based Services. I use Google Maps primarily for directions, but if it is a completely new area, this helps familiarize with the locality helping you identify pointers for turns specifically.

Any piece of information which can be helpful to people, can potentially be used incorrectly. This is no different.

Spotted the same car today at Indore.
Was driven very sedately with four people in the car and with warning lamps on.

No stickering/branding was present on the car to indicate that it's from Google.

^I've seen some cars like that in hyderabad. They, apparently, were not from google but some other mapping service. From what I came to know, it was some private company surveying for city police.

Spotted the same car today in Andheri, Mumbai. At first I thought that the car was carrying the Ganesha idol (due to it being festive season). But the wires going from under the covers and fixed to the wheels confirmed that this was a Street-View/Map car.

The Scorpio that I saw had a completely different camera setup. Perhaps this is some modification keeping the rains in mind.

I saw a Scorpio this Sunday here in Gurgaon with the same camera setup as in the pic few posts above. I wonder if it's Google or some other company. Google, if I remember, was stopped by the authorities from mapping in Bangalore. Also the google street view cars I've see in the US have google's logo prominently displayed on the side.

Spotted a Green Scorpio with a similar camera setup today at Kandivali west. It was just slightly different from the Alto which is posted above.

There were 3 people and I saw the car on the same road twice in a duration of about 1.5 hrs.

There was no logo as such, and people were wondering what is this. Some might have thought that this is some news channel's car.
