But seriously, its not as if they have Ten shades of blue, and seven of black available.
Couldn't they have just called them, i dont know, "white, black, red, grey and blue color gaadi milti hai(car's available)"

and is that neon of the beat, is it actually called "squeeze", or is that the one on the spark?

The green Figo is called Squeeze. While we are at it, the Figo also has a colour 'Chill'.

Edit: the Beat has these colours worth mentioning here:
Cocktail Green - I guess this is the one you mentioned
Olympic White
Linen Beige (already discussed on this thread)

Good that someone got it.

Force one shades:
Intense White - as in intense and brooding?
Bold black - ok
Fierce Red - must run for cover when I see this
Emphatic Grey - this shade seems more sober than emphatic
Robust Blue - so are the other shades weak?
@mayank- . On a serious note, companies are so patently transparent it's not funny. Seems to me the agency that came up with these were given a brief: we need an adjective associated with strength/power/rugged personality of our vehicle and came up with this almost-literal interpretation of it.

I read that second last one as "Empathetic Grey" - damn I've run out of smileys!

Re: Car Colours in India and what their makers call them!

I dont think the day is too far off when car companies start naming the colors in this fashion:

Red: Superman chaddi Red.
Black: Batman Black.
Brown: Indian skin color Brown (Ok, that might be considered racist, so scratch that).
Silver & Gold: Just call it Silver and Gold. The global prices of Silver and Gold are seeing unprecedented rise. Cant afford another adjective to the already pricey metal!

I miss those days when Black was Black and White was White. Henry Ford- Where are you?

Limited version, thats the only translation I could think of but it could be Marathi! Maybe the Hindi word is 'seemit'

Re: Car Colours in India and what their makers call them!

Jayabusa- too much jee...I fell off the chair reading this one.

I was speaking to a person in Azkonobel who supplied us with C5M ( marine protection) coating and he said the base coats are same, only the manufacturers and their media agencies come up with such weird and wacky names for the same paint. Firebrick red & Sunlight Copper are almost same, so according to him, we need to quote the color code as per color manufacturer if we want to buy the color directly from the dealers.

The one shade of car I truly love and which IMHO has been classily named is Urban Titanium from Honda.

It's such a dream colour and looks SO much better than the silver and gold shades on the City. That and Shadow Blue on the Vento are my current favourites!

Re: Car Colours in India and what their makers call them!

Thanks for that! By the way, "Rouge Red" is a tautology, since rouge *means* red in French!

That's a fail in my book

Re: Car Colours in India and what their makers call them!

I quite like Honda's way of naming the colours!
Alabaster Silver: Sensible choice Honda. Alabaster is a material (a mineral actually!) used to make nice decorative art pieces.
Habanero Red: Ouch ! soicy spicy name that goes well with the spicy colour too.
Bold Beige: Yes, this ain't the normal gold/beige that other manufacturers offer or honda used to offer in the pre-ANHC Citys.. This one is bold, definitely!
Urban Titanium: My fav colour for the ANHC this. nice unique colour and a suave and stylish name to go well with it as well

Re: Car Colours in India and what their makers call them!

This thread makes me miss the Cypress Green on our Matiz. Don't remember seeing such a color which can look like many colors when viewed from different angles.

Though it is a metallic double color, sometimes it seems black, sometimes green, sometimes violet and on very few occasions I have seen dark blue. And once you take a look closer up, no other color will show you these many stars in a dark sky, such was the sparkle made by the small metal-flakes in the paint.

The picture does no justice to the color as the snap is taken from an old snap.
