Time for a test, then? If this baby is good for 120 kph cruising and manages
13-14 kpl, then it should be a hit, though not an 'instant' hit as the M&M honcho seems to be expecting.

I would not cruise in a mHawk Scorpio at those speeds, forget a M2CRDI.

That vehicle has no handling characteristics whatsoever on speeds anywhere above 100 kmph.

really? I thought mHawks easily manage 130+ speeds on the highway. I've seen so many myself

Just spoke to the NOIDA dealer. They have no information apart from that it has indeed been launched. No information on features, looks etc. They say they are expecting the first lot in a month and waiting period should go upto two months.

This may be a practical move to tap into the lower end of the market better, but I am really waiting to see what M&M dish out for the Bolero Refresh.

IMO, the Bolero looks and handles a lot better than the Scorpio, though, to each man his own.

Speedboat?? More like a ferry on steroids.

And the 75 bhp engine would seem adequate for many.

The Scorpios with the mHawk engines have really got super pricey. They cost a million on road today. For that price I am not sure of the value.

This launch would at most cannibalize the Bolero sales. If the 7.21 price being mentioned is correct. I see a lot of Bolero buyers moving towards this one.

What rear suspension would this come with? I am guessing at that price point it to me leaf springs.

That's a debatable statement. I favor the Bolero though here.

Since you say Bolero refresh, I am now keen to see how they price it.

But honestly I think Mahindra has not really redefined the Bolero like it should have.

IMO, this would eat up certain share of Bolero coz of the better ride offered by the coil suspensions over leafs.

I wish I could get myself agree to that statement. I never had any problem. Or maybe since I drive a 4WD the experience is different.

I agree with 1100D. I have done above 100+ speeds consistently(where roads allow) without any issues on my mHawk. The engine even at 140+ has more juice unless detuned to suit the gear box. With ABS the car is a different secure ride.

On the handling charecteristics, please do not compare SUV's with Sedan's, it does not fly.

I guess with the Safari LX touching 814000 in Delhi, Mahindra decided to severly undercut it in pricing.
1 lakh cheaper sounds mouthwatering, and will bring in many budget conscious buyers who were wondering whether to go for a 7L diesel sedan, or stretch 1 lakh for a SUV, in to the fold.

This is good, I have personally experienced from a few buyers of Scorpio plling their hands due to price and some of them still dreaming. With this variant, Mahindra has done good. Although I agree that this car has no handling characteristics above 100kmph. Have seen plenty of accidents where the driver have said that the car suddenly became uncontrollable on a slight turn above 100kmph or felt like a boat.

Slowly and steadily, the Scorpio LX variant has inched to 7.84 lakhs ex-showroom in Bangalore. This is in contrast to the 7.4 price tag earlier this year. Is this hike owing to rising costs, or to create space for the lower priced EX variant?

Also, its surprising that the EX is not there on their site, or even dealers who have not much idea about it. So much for a publicized launch!
