I am expecting a vehicle similar to duster and ecosport from honda based on jazz platform as the first one, as this is the hottest sector now.
Honda is good in keeping secrets. They may be in advance stages of development on this.

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

It will great to see a mini SUV based on the Jazz in diesel. It sounds simple, just raise the suspension, upsize tyres, extend chassis, plonk the Amaze engine etc, but cars are not made that way, right?

I hope it will make it to the market when I am ready to upgrade in 2-3 years. I love my Jazz and a SUV based on that with a diesel option will be sweet.

The car looks stunning, adding fludic design to its league!

Will this be for Indian market too?

Gosh! That looks 'amazing'. Monstrous! But personally I love the way Civic looks and the Accord is simply a master's craft.

Surely Honda does not have too many bad lookers in its stable.

Agree, Civic taken off the Indian market was way better than to the new one.

Even the current city looks awesome, though its share is declining among fellow diesel competitors.

Also, with the Toyota Vios on the Indian cards, Honda needs to brace up now.

This design is 'overdone' IMO. Sad to see Honda going the Hyundai way. The Civic which was pulled out of Indian market looked way better, The Civic had a timeless design, I feel.

Its obvious Honda wants to follow the league however with the missing 'R&D", this car is having too much fludic lines overall looking a bit complicated. Also, the rear is very similar to Elantra, New Camry etc.

The absolute mess is the front (grille) where it is looking very cheap.

Seems everyone is on a copying mode

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

Is this the first sign of Honda making giant strides forward in regaining and/or increasing it's Indian market share? Only time will tell.
But boy, what a turnaround the Amaze has caused in Honda Cars India's fortunes.

Just look at the April 2013 numbers :-

Brio - 1628

Amaze - 4852 (definitely in the top 10 sold cars for April 2013)

City - 1917

Accord - 33

CR-V - 58

-----------

Total - 8488

-----------

I see a slight dip in City's sales, but not enough to cause Honda sleepless nights.
As has been told before, the City belongs to a different segment and appeals to a different set of customers, so the thought of the Amaze cannibalising into the City's sales could actually remain just a thought, at the end of the day.
Honda can go only forward from here on - it's a matter of feeding the customer demand for it's new bestseller as best as it can till it's production capacity is doubled and build on this resurgence, to emerge as a dominant force in the Indian market in the months to come.

Honda outshines Maruti with Amaze bookings

Quote:
Less than three weeks into its launch, Honda Cars India Ltd has got a little more than 22,000 bookings for the Amaze sedan, outshining the response Maruti Suzuki India received for the Swift Dzire, launched a year ago. India's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki, had witnessed a booking of around 20,000 units in the first 18-20 days.
Quote:
Of the 10,000 units per month capacity Honda has at its manufacturing plant, it can only build 4,500-5,000 units of the Amaze, due to constraints. The company makes the Brio, Amaze, City, Civic, CR-V and Accord at the Greater Noida facility.
Honda! Good move and hope to all the cars incorporated with diesel engines of various capacities and not just plonking the same engine in all the cars.

Due to this production constraint that Honda is facing with the booking hope there will not be any quality issues to match with the demand of the car.

Quote:
Maruti Suzuki, which sells more than 13,000 units of the Swift Dzire every month, has also seen encouraging response for the limited edition variant Dzire Regal launched a week back. Priced at Rs 5.95 lakh, the Dzire Regal comes only with a 1.2 litre petrol engine with cosmetic changes to interior and exterior.
Dzire Regal?? Was this a silent launch?

Cheers,
Anurag.

March'13 April'13
City 3432 1917
Brio 3917 1628
Dzire 20078 19446

Thats a nearly 50% drop in city sales and almost 70% drop in brio sales. I will say, that indeed is Amaze cannibalizing city and brio. Also don't forget that there is no drastic change in dzire sales in April which is its main competitor. So, i think its actually cannibalization within Honda.

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

Taking into account these are dealer dispatch figures there is a possibility of Honda cutting down production of City and Brio to accommodate the Amaze owing to the capacity constraint issues they have and the huge waiting list of Amaze

This looks like a photoshopped image of Brio! It is exactly a brio stretched out in all dimensions.

The Japs are seriously losing it! I like the way Hyundai has chosen a universal theme in their cars. The honda's in contrast will have some stunners (civic, jazz) and some weird-overdone-chinese-looking designs if this one makes it to production as the new accord.

Re: Honda India : The Way Forward

All this time it was Hyundai trying to look like the Honda or at least aspire to be one !!

Now, it looks like some of the designer's have moved back from Hyundai to Honda.

Honda, Don't do this.. You make wonderful looking cars till date, the last beauty being the Civic and the Arrow shaped City.

Now, this looks more like Elantra

Cheers
