I think that the San Storm and Chinkara count as the worst possible Indian cars. Buttttttttttttttttttt, they arent properly manufacturered cars and are more like one-offs by some enterprising people on a beer-high!

Except for the Ambassador and some models of the Mahindra range, I dont think that there is a terrible car in India. Some may frown upon the Indica, while others may on the Sumo. But they serve the purpose they were built for, dont they?

Since this thread title reads "Worst car on indian roads!"... I'll mention just one and I'll mention one from the cars being sold as of today...
TATA SUMO
Look no further for this award!!

GTO, is the San Storm still sold these days? If so, it would take 2nd prize!

I agree, it's more like a "take a drive to the beach on a Sunday" kind of a car.

Mr Boom, I totally do not agree with your choice of Tata Sumo.

It was made to be a utilitarian vehicle with good vfm, strong mechanicals, rural usability, easy service, lots of space and ultra high usage and negligible maintainence in mind.
Thats just what it does, dosent it? Its not meant for people also considering Indicas or Ikons or whatever, its meant for people who want lots of space for not a lot of dough and who couldsnt care a damn about accelration times or panel gaps.
I also think the basic old model Sumo in white with black bumpers is just starting to look trendy in a different kinda way......

But maybe you have formed your view based on these taxi sumos which ply the highways at speeds tata never dreamt their car could or should acheive. Yes, I agree those taxi drivers are suicidal.......

I don't know anybody who owns a sumo now. But about 10 years back one of my colleague had bought a Sumo as a rural vehicle for their family farm, and boy did he regret it. It only looks like rugged offroader, but very much a city car. He ended up spending 1.5L (in 1996) in repairs in the first year. The service center cautioned him not to drive the Sumo in bad farm roads. That's how Sumo was during the initial years. I don't know whether it has turned into a real rural vehicle now.

Have you ever driven a Sumo? I bet you haven't.
Have you ever bothered to notice the bodyroll in a Sumo? I bet you haven't.
Have you ever seen/ felt how easily Sumos lose control (and I'm not talking of toppling)? I bet you haven't.
etc. etc. etc.

Yes, those Kamikaze Taxi drivers and a certain XXL sized birdbrain who in his own sandblasted thinks he is Schumacher in his so-called wheels while losing control at just 30kmph have also added to this. Besides, the thread asked what you think is the worst car and not what car does your friend who you consider to be your lil bro thinks is the worst.

BTW... How are your studies going? One of my nieces who is in XIIth has some examinations going on even now. I also heard something about examinations getting done with early this year thanks to the elections... Wishing you the best of luck, thambi!
