re: SCOOP Pics! Maruti Suzuki's new 7 seater MPV Ertiga *UPDATE* Spotted again Pg.29,30

I for one just waiting to see this car in flesh in showrooms.. There seems to be lot of promise with this MPV and since it comes from Maruti Stable, don't need to worry abt maintenance or reliability.

Since this looks like an extension of Ritz, the front and middle row should have ample space, just need to ensure the last row has enough room for average built person.

As long as this is sensibly priced (below Innova's base variant), long waiting list is guaranteed on this as well !!!

Atleast this time.

The average height of Indian male (16.645) is less than that of Japanese (1.715)!

Seeing your wishlist, hope Maruti won't reduce the legroom and head room.

Since the picture was taken at a distance, there is considerable room for parallax to come into play. Don't think that the picture is conclusive.

If the diesel makes it in under 10L OTR, this will definitely do well IMHO.

The interiors are very modern and based on the new swift. I expect it to come with SX4's diesel engine and be priced similarly to it as well. It could actually give decent competition to Xylo and be a good option for a first MPV.
Looks strikingly similar to Nissan's forthcoming NV200 MPV......

@vineet@bulbule,
That's an old post - please check out this thread. Almost the whole car has been revealed in different scoop pics. There's also a link to a rendering by Autocar. Suggest that you may go through the thread before posting.

re: SCOOP Pics! Maruti Suzuki's new 7 seater MPV Ertiga *UPDATE* Spotted again Pg.29,30

Is there any update on the expected launch date for this car ? I have seen reports ranging from this year festive season to as late as miod 2012.
Any idea if the rear seats can be removed totally, and if the middle seats come with a 60:40 split option ? My use would be carrying 3 people and one or two bicycles inside it, and the size of the car looks like it can handle that with the right seat config.

"Maruti Suzuki is extensively testing its upcoming MPV (codenamed YL8) and was recently spotted by Rajat Uppal, a fan of the CnB Show. The Maruti Suzuki R3 was seen on the old Delhi Gurgaon national highway. The picture showcases the new MPV from Maruti to be not-so-long. The third row seems just about adequate for children and a far cry from the segment leader, the Toyota Innova. Based on the Ritz platform, the Maruti R3 will feature three rows of seats and will be offered as a 7-seater. However it need not match the Innova’s third row space as Maruti Suzuki will undercut the pricing of the Innova by a significant margin."

Well I really hope MSIL launches this vehicle soon. Frankly I am quite irritated that the Innova V models costs 14.5l onroad Mumbai and has hardly any features. Its just too much money to pay for the car. Not to mention the 3month waiting period, and dealers trying to sell you cars with 1.5l accessories fitted on them, if you want early delivery.
The Innova might be a good car, but it really needs some competition in India.

Are there two versions of RIII? My doubt is because the side image of RIII in the old spy pics shown below shows a shorter (<4m?) vehicle, while the image above seems much longer (>4m).

I just saw, RIII being tested on Noida Express Highway. I tried to chase and click photo graph, but that guy zipped way. The way the driver was driving looks like it is very zippy and fun to drive. Just manage to click one photo, will post it later in the evening.

While its decent from front and back, the side profile looks a bit off. The rear end is unusually high.

I guess the rear looks bulky since there is a cover on the top of the glass house. If you see in one of the pic, there is a quarter glass at the rear most for giving an airy feeling, which is not seen in the black car.

Could this be based on Opel / Vauxhall Meriva mini MPV? Suzuki has some kind of tie up with GM that allows them to jointly develop and market vehicles - case in point the Agila/Ritz twins which share the same platform / most body panels
