It seems to be a really good concept for India - though it does exist in varous forms globally.

The size is quite car like and if one really does not want the innova bulk and ground clearance this should be the way to go about it. The price too should be attractive as maruti is not likely to go the Jazz way. Infact for a 6 person family this seems to be the most decent travel option.

2+2+2 - (3+3+2) or (2+2+2) is so very unpractical in this width.

Did you get a chance to see the seating configuration inside? I am wondering what the seating configuration is. If it is 2 (front row) + 3 (second row) + 3 (last row), then it will be a 8 seater (like 8 seater Innova). If it is a strictly 7 seater MPV, then which is it 2+3+2 or 2+2+3?

Thanks for the pics Mukesh. It might be a winner for MSIL, if they price it right.

Also, I just hope that the 3rd row has adequate leg room, otherwise it might be difficult to grab perspective customers.

Going by the interior pics of the very first post (post no. 1 on page 1 of this thread), from the version photographed, it seems like 2+3+2, with a split second row seat for entry to the 3rd row.

At a total length of of 4275mm, it may not be possible to release much legroom for the 3rd row, which will be adequate only for kids/passengers of short build.

This product will suit my needs, as I have a total of 4 adults and a couple of small kids in my family. If it drives like a car, I will put my money on the table, first day first show

I only hope it has a split folding option for the 3rd row seats, to have flexibility in stashing some luggage as well.

You mean 2 seats in second row and 3 in third row (2+2+3)? The third row cannot seat adults due to lack of leg space (even Innova is not good enough for tall people in 3rd row), but second row can seat only two adults. The car becomes strictly a 4 adult seater + some kids, that is my concern.

@mohan41, I am under the impression that the 2nd row will have the standard 60:40 ratio split seat (3 seater 2nd row), with the 3rd row not being wide enough to accomodate 3 adults. Yes, since the 3rd row might not have enough legroom anyway, the 2+2+3 may be ruled out, I think.

Anyways, this is just my guesswork, hope MUL has some pleasant surprises in store for us on the seating plans, with the different versions that are bound to be launched

Chances are high that it will be a 2+3+2. One of the earlier spy pics showed the 3rd row to be occupied by 2 average sized guys [Japs?] and that was more like a snug fit covering the entire rear windshield.

And if I could make this statement, I would say this might be a proper 2+2+2 at the max considering not many hatches from Maruti can seat 3 in the middle / normal rear seat. And this car ain't so wide as well ! As some other said, I would liked to be proved wrong.

I had a glimpse of a black car entering the expressway from my left. Then I realized what could it be. It was behind me, so I slowed down a bit and allowed it to overtake but the driver was fast. He reached 90-100 very quickly while overtaking me.

You can see him overtaking the cars ahead of him in the next pictures (Wagor-R, Blue NHC).

It left expressway from the next exit. So, I could not see more than what I clicked in the pictures. Sorry.

Clicking these pictures, at that speed, was convenient for me because I was driving an AT.

There was just the driver in the car and very casual in his approach. I am sure it can be seen again on NH8 (near Shiv Murti) by regulars on that stretch (myself included).

I think the most likely date will be Auto Expo in Jan 2012. Maruti will have some impact due to the strike last month. They will require couple of months to stabilize the production of existing models

Thanks for the link. According to this video, the side profile of Ertiga (except the C-pillar) looks like a bigger Estilo, IMO!
