Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Am surprised to note the comparatively lower sales of the Beat (2136), Figo (5,608) and i10 (11,538) as compared to the previous months. Effect of the petrol price hike? Even the sales of the Nano (6,515) have dipped last month.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Etios jumps out of this sheet. Eye watering numbers there.
Vento going strong too.
City doing ok I guess. I was expecting worse figures.
Now waiting for FIAT numbers.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Thanks GTO,

Found it strange for you to not put Maruti numbers.

The ANHV has exceeded the City figures by a good number,. I guess City is losing its top position faster than it thought. First it was Vento and now ANHV and I guess Fiesta too in the coming days unless the Honda think tank comes up with an ace up the sleeve.

For gods sake GM has to something for the Aveo, what happened to the supposed to be facelift option.

Verna too. Must have been a loooong time since the guys at Hyundai saw such numbers for the Verna - till last month, its older sibling Accent was licking it in sales.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Interesting to see the cruze-corolla-civic-laura numbers.
Cruze has had a big fall this month from 900+ to 600+. Civic is down and out. Corolla is down too. Once it was the leader this month its in third position. Laura has seen a rise and is knocking on cruze s door. Interesting situation now for the segment. Lets see how Fluence affects the equilibrium now in the segment.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Strong start for ANHV resulting in significant dip in Vento and City numbers. City numbers down by almost 50% compared to previous year.
Verito performs well and look at the good old Santro - still going strong.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Has Hyundai produced another segment leader here in ANHV. Seems like!!!
In continuation to the i20 success, ANHV seems to be treading the same path. Fantastic opening numbers!!! Excellent choice in engines- both Petrol and Diesel coupled with Manual as well as Automatic transmission makes ANHV presence in a couple of segments.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Thanks GTO

Waiting to see MSIL numbers, for now its clear that only Verna sold well because it was just launched in MAY 2011.

Most of the other cars are hit, Sales are dropping. Figo having a good diesel option and clock below 6k even the indica's including vista's clocking below 6k

For sure sales are effected because of higher EMI's(RBI acheived its target ) and higher petrol prices and the fear of diesel prices getting de-regulated soon.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

1. The sales figures don't look very promising. Everyone seems to have taken a hit. Vento, though still above city has taken a dip from last month I believe. ANHV effect already?

2. Nano dip in sales by around 3500 from last month is disappointing for me. I really want it to do well. Even the Indica and Manza are not doing that great.

3. About the Aria: fine I agree its a little over-priced. But so are all its competitors. The cheapest endeavour is a good 2lacs more expensive that the most expensive aria and still sales better. Hell even that capitva sales 4 times more. Is it really that bad?

4. HM might as well close down. I fail to understand how they manage to make ends meet!

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

REASON FOR LOW TOYOTA SALES

- Production normalized only on May 20th
- New Corolla Altis to hit markets in June, existing might have been sold till last nos

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Good to see Honda City bounce back. I was hoping for even worse numbers this month but things turned up well for Honda this month. I hope these figures will improve even more once Honda start production at full capacity. Good start by Verna, I am sure the car will retain number one position till new fiesta comes. There is further drop in Vento's sales as compared to last two months. I fear if such a good car may be over-shadowed because of Verna and Fiesta.

I am waiting for Maruti and Ford sales Figures to conclude things from my side.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Given Fiat's "consistent" performance in the last few months(~2K) and Honda's troubles, I have a feeling that Fiat (Linea+Punto) numbers could be better than Honda (City+Jazz) numbers in May too.

Re: May 2011 : Indian Car Sales Figures

Tavera and Bolero have stayed faithful to their makers. Rural India shining?

Innova sales have gone down from the 4xxx marks. why?
