The car comes with 1.6L 109 bhp engine. The car costs $11k as compared to Verna's $14k. I think it will be priced around 6-8L in India.

Got an email alert from Car Dekho with a link stating that Nissan Sunny will be unveiled in India on 3 August:

Does anyone else have any news? If this is priced below the Verna, then it will be good news, especially if there is a diesel. But depends heavily on how much localisation they have from day one.

Nissan will be changing the name "Sunny" to something else. Announcement imminent in the first two weeks of August.

Sunny and Versa have been ruled out for India as the former was a 50cc scooter from Bajaj that exited production, while the latter was a rare flop from the house of Maruti Suzuki.

Yup, confirmed. The car will be unveiled on 3rd August 2011, that is day after tomorrow.

I was just checking about Nissan in neighboring countries and figured that Nissan is pretty well established brand in Pakistan. They have an extensive lineup starting Sunny onwards (No Micra there). However the version of Sunny sold there looks to be an older gen design and do not have diesel engines. - Link.

Will we get a Diesel Sunny (Versa) in India? I doubt they'll see too much success with a Petrol only version.

Sorry for not having read the whole thread in detail. Am sharing some thoughts on this car.

• Wheelbase of 2601 is more than the Altis and Optra (both 2600).
• Should be a fairly spacious car from the looks of it. We finally may have a spacious car which is of good quality in the C segment, apart from the ANHC. The Etios and Manza have spacious cabins, but lack on quality. Fluidic is clearly a compromise on the rear seat. NFF is hardly spacious.
• The foot-well seems a bit cramped.
• It seems it will have headroom will be an issue in the rear seat. They may go the Fluidic Verna route, by making the seats lower, leading to less under-thigh support etc.
• Looks stunning in some pictures. Those professional photographers know how to do a good job!!

The interiors quality in the Micra may be indicative of what to expect in this one. How is the interiors quality in the Micra?

What news on the diesel launch and engine options? The same 1.5?

hey thanks for the spec. Looks like there were many posts before mine about the confirmation ! I had infact opened this thread in the morning and entered the data in the evening ! So lost all the refresh data !

Anyway we have only a petrol coming in? Thats bad ! Any idea on the USP for this? Will this give Honda & Maruti a run for money? Will have to wait n see !

Thanks to that wheelbase, Nissan say that the US-Versa can carry 5 full-sized Americans!
