Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

@ raghav: Not offended happy to help. I have Petrol AT gives me about 8- 9 in the city depending on traffic conditions and about 13 - 14 on the highway. All with ac on 100 %. I dont think any big cars give better fuel efficiency unless they are Diesel.

We own 2003 Corolla in India and have been getting constant average of 11 KPL in City and 14 KPL on highway with 100% AC usage. I even have 2005 Corolla here in USA and getting 32 MPG in City and 38 MPG on Highways and the car has clocked now 150k Miles. I don't think any other petrol car in this segment gives as good average as Corolla if not better.

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

16 June came and went past, was the new Altis launched? Searched for news didn't find any?

EDIT, just saw the news of the launch, has the interiors have been changed or its just the changes to the engine?

Launched - TOI Today

Just saw a huge 1 page advert in the TOI.

New Altis launched and they mention 3 changes - exteriors are a bit more sleek now ( Headlights have changed )

Interiors - Push Start Button, A DVD 6'' Touchscreen Navigation HU ( Does not say GPS BUT I think should be there ).

Also it does not say whether the same applies to the diesel version.

Also the advert does not mention prices.

Overall - a minor facelift - nothing major. Maybe will bump up sales just a bit.

That’s the way Toyota works, especially with the bread and butter models like Corolla and Camry. The styling of these cars are always a gradual evolution, a not a top-down overhaul. It may be a bit short of style on the outside, but it has got the inherent talent to suit almost all the needs of its target buyer. And if you notice, there are quite a lot of positive changes there –the start-stop button, slight power increase, and new gear boxes for both MT and AT.

And on a lighter note, a Toyota does not age very fast. Because it already look quite matured at the launch, and can survive many years with some light make-up

Minor Face lift but MAJOR Heart Transplant. Altis Petrol got the latest 2ZR-FE engine with 140 bhp, 6 Speed Manual Tranny and new 7 speed Auto Tranny as well.

I think these qualifies as major upgrade.

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

Saw the advt in TOI today, it says Altis has a better music DVD player. Need to check with SA if that's the case for all variants or just the top end?

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

These are the changes and in no way can this can be considered a minor facelift.

Exteriors:
- New headlights and bumpers
- Door handles are no longer chrome but body coloured
- Tail lamps and rear chrome garnish is changed
- Rear bumper is redesigned
- Parking sensors

Interiors:
- Darker beige and close to black on top of dash.
- Dark wood inserts with matte finish.
- Perforated leather seats.
- start/stop button
- keyless remote with smart entry
- DVD player with aux, usb and bluetooth

And the biggest change is the engine is now the latest 2ZR-FE 140PS dual VVT-i engine coupled with a new 6 speed manual or a 7 speed CVT-i AT box.

That's a really long list of changes for just a facelift!!

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

Considering Civic facelift in 2009, this is huge; I mean, it justifies the word facelift. Honda should learn from Toyota; Altis always had better/more features than the competition, still they gave it a significant upgrade. Well done Toyota!

New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June-toyota-price-list-20110617-105004.jpeg

The website has been updated to show the new prices. Correct me if I am wrong here, but they seem to have been hiked.

In any case, nice upgrade in my opinion!

Team-Bhp test drive review please!!!

The engine change is a big step forward.

The DVD touchscreen audio system looks nice. I wish current Altis owners could upgrade to this and still have the steering audio controls working.

You missed the engine upgrade. That is no way can be termed as a minor facelift. Since they don't talk about GPS, I doubt if it has been in built.

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

Called up my contact in Ravindu Toyota and he is going to send me the details. The test drive car isn't available yet should be there in few weeks. The Audio setup changed across all variants and Leather upholstery is only on top end. Might go and see the car in flesh sometime this weekend.

Re: New Altis Launch 16th June !!! New Liva Launch 27th June

significant change here, will give its sales a big push, especially with the DVD Hu and press start stop. The 1.8 VL, which i reckon is top of the line with all the bells and whistles, should be 16 OTR-Thane?
