Used car price statistics : How much did you buy / sell yours for?

Hi,

Bought 2005 Safari in 2007 for 6.2 lakhs which has done some 62000 K in ODO ( but latter realized from showroom actual KM is nearly 95K

) in coimbatore

Will I buy back this model? Probably yes but not from used car market

Bought 2005 Indica DLG in 2008 for 2.9 Lakhs which has done 42K in ODO in Bangalore

Sold 1999 Fiat uno which I bought in 2005 for 1 lakhs in 2007 for same 1 lakhs ( but have changed to new tyre , new battery, fixed new ac compressor) in coimbatore

Sold 2000 model Wagon R which I bought in 2007 for 2.1 lakhs in 2008 for 1.7 lakhs to Toyota used car in bangalore ODO was 65K and I have hardly driven some 3k in a year

2002 Maruti Zen LX
- bought in mid 2005 for 2.3L at 28500kms (2.5L if you consider the 20K I paid as road-tax when I moved it to Hyderabad
- sold it for 1.83L at 45000kms 2 years later in mid 2007
- Would I buy it again? No - models too old to be considered.

Dec 2006 Maruti WagonR VXi
- bought it in Jun 2007 for 3.22L from Maruti True Value (6 month old, 10500kms)
- still have it. Now at 63300kms.
- Would I buy it again - Yes, if I were looking for a small small car.

Purchase: Model, Variant & Color : New; Tata Indigo, LX TDI, Artic Silver; May 2006.
Vehicle Stats at time of selling: ~67000 KMs, always was regularly serviced; front suspension was done; clutch assembly & battery replaced; two tyres were replaced, but others were not really good.
Sold: May 2010 (my 4 years ownership); via a ref to dealer in 2 Lac.
Reason to sell: booked Xylo E6 (new).

- Bought for : 90,000 (I was the 2'nd owner and got it in 2005 )
- Sold for : 60,000
- Would I go back and buy this car again? Simply loved the zen. was hard to let go of it but maintenance issues were cropping up

New car price (as of 2006): 3.8 L (after heavy discount, since zen was being discontinued, original cost 4.2 L)
Sold: March 2010
Accessories: K&N Performance Filters, Seat Cover, Sony CD/MP3 player and JBL Speakers, Alloys with apollo acelere tyres changed at 42 k KMS, an year before i sold.
KMS: ~ 52 K
Reason: Bought Indica Vista Quadrajet (New)

Would I go back and buy this car again? YES, only drawback is the the soaring price of petrol.

Model, Variant & Color : Fiat Palio 1.6 GTX, Midnight Black, Bangalore
First ownership Date : May 2002
Second ownership Date, Mileage, Price : Sold in September 2005 for Rs. 2.62 lakhs after covering 12000km as I would be abroad for a year and there was no place to store it
Brief Quantitative and qualitative comment: It was the wrong car for me at the time (I was learning to drive. I had had a license for 10 years before buying the car but very little experience). While all the petrol heads swear buy the car, as a newbie, I came across the following issues
* hydraulic power steering becomes very light at high speed reducing confidence
* torque at low RPM is inadequate for driving in the city
* large turning radius, width not good for navigating tiny streets (I was staying in Ejipura, Bangalore which is a hell hole of labyrinthine, tiny streets)
* low seating/large glass area or something else made my wife very nauseous during drives in bumper-to-bumper traffic. I thought it was my jerky driving, but she has no issues in my current car which is a Santro.
* very low mileage which made me take out the car less and less

Things I liked
* built like a tank
* the power once you cross 2500 RPM
* spacious

I wouldn't buy it or a petrol hot hatch again.

Bought Oct 2005 Santro ELX XP in Bangalore
Purchased : February 2007
Price bought: 3.2 lakhs (Odometer reading : 5300 km)
Comments: Fantastic city car. Good on the highway as well. I did a 2700 km (Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Udaipur-Jodhpur-Sam-Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Mt-Abu-Baroda-Mumbai) with no issues at all and with speeds frequently at or above 120kph. Mileage in the city could be better. On short commutes to office of about 5km in bumper to bumper traffic, I get 10-11 kpl only.
