Supposed to be cheaper by 1.5 lakh, estimated.
IMO it should be cheaper by 2L+.

reason
  • no torque on demand transfer case
  • no front axle
  • no alloy (??)
so i think the price will/should be reduced by 2L.

@Sid, thanks for the images.

I am noticing that the panel gaps in the hood has reduced in the pics you posted. I remember that earlier it used to be a bit more. Is this one of the updates? Or was it done earlier?

Any info on other updates to ARIA across the board?

The aria pleasure always had safari rims since launch. Its only that this variant never sold well.

The features remain the same, only the 4 wheel drive is absent.

It does not have a TOD transfer case and front transmission & drive components, but it does have a front axle Correct me if I am wrong.

I think the 1.5L drop is good. Add the (future) discounts, and we may get to 2L, though

Re: Tata Aria 4X2 launch next week; Fiesta launch on July 10th

normally the price difference between a 4X4 & 4X2 is around 1.2lac. Considering that this is a advanced AWD unit, can expect the price to be reduced by 2lac.

But still feel TATA should concentrate on making the Aria a World Class product rather then getting into the price war.

I think he meant front drive shaft instead of front axle. also in ordinary Indian jargon, Rear wheel drive is "back axle" and Front wheel drive is "Front axle"

thanks DicKy.

what i wanted to say is in 4x2 version there will not be a TOD transfer case & front drive axle.

& those assemblies (& related components) cost 2L. (AFAIK)

rgds,
Nikhil

see the tata safari front drive axle.
which is not present in 4x2 version.

instead there will be only suspension parts.

Will be lighter, more fuel efficient, maybe handle better and in the long run will be less heavy on the pocket(decreased complexity),
The Aria 4X2 deserves too be a much bigger success.

Re: Tata Aria 4X2 launch next week; Fiesta launch on July 10th

A good no. of Aria's have been bought by Go Air, to transport "engineering staff", have seen it both at Mumbai and Delhi airports. Im sure its a stripped down version or offered at a good discount. Dont think a low cost airline will buy 15lac+ SUV just to transport maintenance personnel in the airport complex.

can it be some other initiative ?

Re: Tata Aria 4X2 launch next week; Fiesta launch on July 10th

Yesterday I saw this 4*2 Aria at a Tata dealership in New Delhi, but after checking out the Top end variant i did not liked it much as a lot of features were missing, but everything comes at a price. I think Tata Motors should have given the lovely alloy wheels and should have painted/chromed the front grill.

These are not Safari rims. They have a updated different star shaped design and also that small hub cover on the wheel is very different from Safari.

Want to ask though, dont the wheel size looks like 16 inches?

Could you please confirm which features were missing? All reports till now mention that variant-for-variant there will be nothing missing apart from the TOD 4WD system.

Externally there doesn't seem to be anything missing. In 4x4 form as well Aria Pleasure was the only model that had the chrome-surround grille and 16" steel wheels, while the Prestige and Pride came with a Full Chrome grille and 17" alloys.

Yup, the (old) brochure mentions that Pleasure has 16" steel wheels, but doesn't have the tyre size for it. I think the GC was also 10mm lower because of the smaller wheels & tyres.

Re: Tata Aria 4X2 launch next week; Fiesta launch on July 10th

As per Motorbeam Report (refer below link) the 4X2 Aria is expected to be launched on 02 Aug 10:

Tata Aria 4x2 Launch On 2nd August 2011 | MotorBeam - Indian Car Bike News & Reviews

However, I do doubt the tentative pricing that they have reported in the article, which is INR 60K-100K (only) lower that the 4X4 Aria Pleasure variant. If this is true, the Sales will be dud for the 4X2 variant... or Tata Motors wants people to purchase the 4X4 variant only, & that too in small numbers.
