One more addition to my above points: The brakes on the new swift are way better than the older one.
Oh a Zxi version of a diesel exists. Makes somewhat sense then.
Even though I still feel 7.5 is a tad much for a swift. Especially when it lacks those features mentioned above, I was really hoping to see a start/stop on it personally.

It says that production has been completely haulted but maruti is issuing rumors in media saying production is back to normal so that ppl dont cancel their bookings. This is scary but i am not 100% sure how relible this information is.

Re: MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

Got delivery of my Swift ZDi. Took it home. Unfotunately OEM Mudflaps have not yet reached. I am hesitant to take it outside in the muddy waters, as I will have to wash the car often. Even basic accessories for the new model have not come (seat cover/ side beading etc.). I was supplied the service booklet for the old model. I have asked for the new model and the sales executive promised to deliver the same.

Shall soon post the details about the decision process and purchase experience.

Re: MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

Whatever happened to the official review for the new swift? Its been almost a month since its launch. Although as a credit reviews of cars launched much later have been put up. Are we not reviewing the swift?

Have cancelled my old booking of new swift ZXI. In all these delays for delivery of new swift, I got a chance to do multiple test drives of Polo 1.6. Finally have fallen for it. Polo 1.6 is expected to be delivered by end of this month.

Re: MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

India and Suzuki Motorcycle India located in the Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt struck work in the afternoon.

"The workers of these three plants have gone on strike since this afternoon in support of MSI's Manesar plant workers," Suzuki Powertrain India Employees Union President Sube Singh Yadav said.
He said the workers were asking for an early settlement to the standoff between MSI management and workers at the Manesar plant that has severely affected production since August 29.
Workers from Suzuki Castings, a part of Suzuki Powertrain India, who are affiliated to Suzuki Powertrain India Employees Union, also said they have joined the strike.
Suzuki Motorcycle India Workers Union President Anil Kumar said workers at the two-wheeler maker's plant stopped working in support of colleagues at MSI.
"We want them [MSI] to settle the issue as soon as possible, till then we will be on strike. Moreover, we are also demanding regularisation of our colleagues here who have been working here for more than four years," he said.
Comments from officials of Suzuki Powertrain India and Suzuki Motorcycle India could not be obtained.
Suzuki Powertrain India employs over than 2,000 workers at its Manesar plant, where it manufactures diesel engines and transmissions for supplies to MSI. The plant has an annual production capacity of 3 lakh units. Suzuki Castings has nearly 700 workers.
Suzuki Motorcycles India has 1,400 workers at its plant near Manesar and it rolls out about 1,200 motorcycles and scooters a day.
Meanwhile, MSI said it rolled 525 units of Swift from Manesar and Gurgaon combined today and said 116 workers have resumed duties after signing the good conduct bondh of strike at manchesar plant

IMO, New Vista VX is the best & safest working hatch overall.
Good price point, low maintainance, great features, spacious, great engine...
However, opinions are subjective in this regard.

None, The swift has a 5 star rating for European models equipped with Additional airbags ESP and a lot more factors count. In person the swift does feel really scary but being a vista owner. I can safely comment that Reliability and quality are two area's which are unknown to a tata. So yes that way the swift scores but my drive was disappointing.

Why don't you try the VW polo or jazz, Both are superior to the swift in build quality and safety.

You have yourself pointed out the blunder. Opinions are subjective but why? Simply because the reliability and quality feeling is missing in the vista.

The handling of the vista is sloppy not that the new swift scores here but still it is better off. And international models have better engineered structures so we can assume they have better crash test results.

Coming to the point the new vista is not priced low, it has good equipment in lower trims but still the swift is a far better buy.

Vista has no comparision with Swift in the handling department and fun to drive factor.

plus another major issue with Vista is the name "INDICA VISTA" how many of us can convince ourself to buy a INDICA by paying 5.5 or 6lakhs?

I have no clue what is TATA upto !!! First mistake they launched the car as INDICA VISTA, with INDICA badging being huge behind, then they realize oh my god we have done a mistake lets refresh the model and start marketing it as only VISTA.

But again they decide to commit another blunder, the name the car INDICA VISTA on the rear boot door, this time they think they are very clever and they name VISTA with a HUGE Font and INDICA with a small font. and they continue to market the car only as VISTA.

Come-on TATA, wake up this is 2011, people are not fools, people will not invest in the product which has a taxi brand image in the country. In India cars are still considered as an asset and people take a lot of pride in owning them.

TAXI IMAGE??
Ever thought of Innova..??
It still commands a premium of more than 50k & waiting period of 7-8 months in north.
Just because TATA were bad in their earlier manifestations doesnot in any way mean that they shall continue same way ever after.
E.g. TATA Manza is being bought by well educated people in Chandigarh

Re: MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

Hi,

I have got the delivery of my New Swift ZDI blazing red metallic on 8/9/11,
and i'm happy with the purchase . keeping a bit busy these days, but soon will be posting the pictures.

Wanted to check with the other new swift owners here about the AVC (Auto Volume Control) and how does it actually work? I have followed the instructions in the manual still havent been successfull in getting the AVC work.
Can someone please try the AVC option in their car and get back to me?

Thanks!

Congrats. Eagerly looking for pics and ownership review as all the cars I've seen on road, and in the forum are white. :-)

When did you book the car?
