For example the rear seat leg space. It looks like its no better than the previous swift and the boot space is still small. So where did the increased 90 mm go?
SVP's review isn't much of a review in general always. Half of the review time, He spends blabbering about the front looks , side profile, tail lamp the lines, angles, the treatment etc

Having owned a previous gen Swift I can say that the rear leg room is not as bad as people are thinking it to be. It is not in Vista's league for sure.

It has been mentioned in other reviews that the leg room has been increased by 20 mm or 30 mm which is pretty alright if you ask me.

The biggest letdown to me is the lack of split seats at the back. That's pretty lame of Suzuki to do that.

Ride was stiff, the interior parts quality in general was poor, Rattles here and there, Cabin noise a bit on higher side were annoying things in the old Swift. Hope they are taken care of it.

Mate trust me go ahead with the new swift . i am someone who sold his swift ddsi and bought i20 . honestly i am very disappointed with i20 in every aspect . i know many i20 owners will start fuming but the fact remains Swift is much better car overall compared to i20.

I wonder why people go ga-ga over the space in i20? Not a single person out of 10-12 who sat at the back in my i20 was comfortable , infact all of them said your swift was way more roomy(due to height , maybe?) and comfortable, also while driving my knees keeps rubbing the lower part of the dash . Ac in this car is a joke even when mine is 2011 model , got it in april 2011 . lifeless steering , terribly underpowered . i can go on and on with the negative's of this car .
In the positive side the interior quality is top notch and the looks , other then that i keep asking myself what more i had read in the reviews to convince myself for this stupid decision to buy this car !

I might go back to Swift but will have to settle with the Vdi/Ldi variant as now i cant afford to shell out close to 7 lakhs again . Cheers

EDIT - I'd like to add that the FE to my surprise is very good . In city i am getting around 12km-12.5/ltr with 100% ac .

You gotta to be kidding right?! The swift is so cramped. I20 justs beats it hollow when it comes to space. There are issues in I20 like the steering rattle, the ac is average, but when it comes to space, i20 is definitely way roomier. The ride in I20 is good in the city but on highways it tends to bob. I did not find the swift's ride to be any good though it doesnt bob on undulations like the i20.

Buddy i really dont want to hijack this thread with Swift Vs i20 . Purpose of that post was to let people know about the both the cars(my preference and what i feel about the both) as i had swift for 2 years and i've been driving i20 since past 5 months . i am regretting my decision going with i20 . honestly i dont want anyone else to feel the same after shelling out over 6.5lakh hard earned money .

Swift well is cramped no two ways, but at the same time i20 too is cramped (slightly better than swift) . Yes boot space is much better but cabin aint no good .

Regarding ride quality and handling Swift IMO is a clear winner .

My point is does i20 really make sense at more than 6.5lakh for the asta model compared to Swift's DDis (Zdi should be some where around 6.5l price range) .
Going by the reviews which i've read in most of the sites about the new swift its ride quality have improved also cabin space . Only thing i'd like to know is the boot space in the new swift .

cheers

Just curious to know what made you sell your DDiS Swift in favour of an i20 (I assume its petrol since you talk about 6.5L price tag).

Met with an accident . There was severe damage and after the repairing work car was never the same . Also it being a VDI model without ABS/Airbag i decided to sell it of and get a car with ABS/Airbag .

Swift was my first choice but then i was aware of the fact the new swift will be out soon, waited for some time but there were no concrete launch date , just speculations . :|

Sad to know about it. Good that you bought your next with complete safety support systems. Indian govt. should make it mandatory for all cars to have ABS and at least drivers airbag. (or should have some punitive tax on the units without it on the manufacturer). It's a pity that safety features are treated as luxury here.

Is the new Swift launching on Aug 17? I guess I read the launch is on Aug 15, but have not seen anything in that respect.

New Honda Jazz is launching on 18th, Media already hinting the price war between Maruti and Honda (atleas petrol model). So Maruti may launch 1 day earlier just to steal the show. Just speculating :-))

Or Honda is waiting for Maruti to anoounce Swift price :-)

I don't think it wil make any sense for Honda to price it competitevly to the Swift. After all both cars deal with two different segments. And the only think probably Honda can do is to under cut the Swift ZXi by couple of thousands, but then customers will be looking at a less featured Honda variant against the fully loaded Swift and naturally most of the sales will get converted to Swift based on that is what I presume.

Dealers will NOT know the prices till its announced by the company. They will even get the updated prices later by email or so, once the announcement is done.

thanks SnF

One more quick question : Now that its sure that Ldi/Vdi will have 14" wheels and Zdi will have 15".

Will there be a difference between these models in terms of :

1. Ride and Handling (good and bad roads)

2. Fuel Efficiency

And, is it wise to upgrade to 16 inch wheels from the 15 inch being offered on ZXi/ZDi ? Will it make any difference in handling/ride quality or performance?

Swift 2011 comes with 16 inch option in UK.
