Re: MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

Looks like someone at Maruti / Suzuki has rubbed our mods the wrong way. This was one most awaited reviews on Team-Bhp and looks like we will have to do without one. (official)

I was thinking (hoping) that there would be a new kind of (path breaking)review where Maruti would give the new cars for a week for the mods to give a complete overview of the vehicle but it doesn't seem to be so.

We will have to settle for ownership reviews I guess. But coming from team-bhp members we can expect them to be top grade.

Do not lose hope BheemBoy. I am sure they are coming up with a big surprise for all of us here.

Until then, yes, one can definitely rely on ownership and TD reviews.

+ 1 to that.
As I said somewhere earlier, must be down to the traditional print media and bigger media houses lobbying with MUL.
After all , compared to them, TBHP reviews are
- More unbaised.
- More popular.
- Interactive as well.

Re: MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

Qouting OVERDRIVE mag on the build quality-

"3500 kms across eight states in 5 days... Not a squeak, not a rattle. The old Swift would not have lasted so well, the stiff ride would have seen bits of interior trim rattle loose, but thats the new Swift for you- improved ride, improved build, far better interiors, a bit more space, an excellent engine and as much fun to drive, as we hoped and expected it to be. "

Bought OVERDRIVE and TOP GEAR magazines, just cause i was eager to read about the swift. (My car purchase will be in september and hence too eager!).

Thats Rs 300/- from my pocket! (Wonder how much team-bhp has saved me on magazine costs over the past 5 years! )

But as GTO clarified, they havent test driven the Swift during the media drives, and the review will come up as soon as they get to drive one. I just hope its before Sep second week.

Congrats! Eagerly waiting for your review and ownership log! Which colour?

Anyone has pics of the new Torque blue colour?

One question. Does the ZXI and ZDI passenger side airbag deactivation switch? Enquiry from SE drew blank face.

The torque blue colour has been featured in one of the pre launch spy shots in this thread itself, maybe you can search back. It looks pretty much like the original deep blue colour that the first version of the Swift came with (which then got discontinued).

By the way, which version did you decide upon- petrol or diesel?

That is good to hear indeed. No squeaks or rattles for 3500 km is incredible.

I saw the Top Gear issue but was disappointed with the Swift review there. It hardly added any value to stuff that we already know. A far cry from what we are used to reading on T-BHP.

Here are some pictures of the Swift in Torque blue.

Oh this is bad as some workers have been found tampering with the quality of cars being assembled, “On August 24, 1,230 cars were planned to be produced, but only 437 were assembled. Out of which, just 96 cars could pass quality check," a source said” This is scary !

Guys who are waiting for Swift, be ready for a prolonged waiting, good opportunity for competitors though.

Holy cow, this is scary. I should be getting delivery of my Swift soon. What if their quality assurance department goofs up and initial buyers end up with lemons?

+1
Its a good thing I postponed my car's delivery by a month. I hope they sort out the issues by then.
The how to spot a lemon information would come in handy.

Re: MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

Waiting period of 28 weeks for ZDi and 46 weeks for VDi is a joke. People buying the Swift as their first car might look elsewhere. Swift is a gem and the new Swift is even better. It doesnt deserve all this.

Re: MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

According to first post they had started production of new swift in July first week. When they launched it on August 17th booking touched 50K (this includes the booking of old model). They were discussing about 13K capacity per month and increasing to 17k per month. Somehow this figures and waiting period just don't match. This shows the in-efficiency of MSL management, they just can't do it. In addition to this new issue of tampering with the quality of cars by their own employees, horrible situation.

By the time you take delivery of 2011 swift; 2012 face lift will be launched!!! :-(((

EDIT: I was reading about 6 months waiting period for Jazz in Bangalore!! god help us!
