Thats an 70K premium which seems ok. However, An ex-showroom of 7.5 ( top end) would mean that the City EMT is cheaper, that too with a 1.5 engine as compared to a 1.2 engine.
With the Brio too having a 1.2 engine, would the Jazz be to the Brio what the Civic is to the City?
I dont think honda has enough differentiation in features to vary the price for its models from 5.99 - 7.5 lakhs except if it plans an AT which has been ruled out.

Besides, i dont think a 70k premium over teh i20 asta is 'ok'. Its a bit too much IMHO. Even feature to feature, Jazz will atleast miss out on the ACC we know for sure.

I personally dont think the top end of the Jazz will be any more than 7 lakhs ex-showroom will still be more than 7.5 lakhs on road mumbai.

I am hoping a price band of 6.7 lakhs - 7.3 lakhs on road. with price points being 5.99 ex, 6.3 ex, 6.7 ex. Fingers crossed. 2 days!!

By 'ok" i meant, not good, but if I have to, can live with it and still stick to the decision of buying a Jazz. Feature to feature as on date the i20 is far ahead.

+1 Fingers crossed. But wouldn't a 6.7 ex. still come to around 7.4-7.5 OTR?

It will probably nugde 7.3. The outgoing model was charged some 64k on registration when the exshowroom was 7.7. SO for the new model wil 6.7 i am also expecting the registration to be around 50k.

On a side note, i was reading on the swift thread that Maruti has deferred the release of the swift pricing by one day. On 17th they are going to release it on FB but the pricing announcement will be made on 18th.

How do you think Honda is gonna react since they havent officially made any announcement for a 18th August release. Will they defer it further?

I just called Whitefield Honda in Bangalore and they told launch is not on 18th August , They do have exact information about the launch date - but could happen in last week of August.

Ah this is bad news. called up my dealer too after reading the above posts and he told there is no confirmed news about the launch date. However, he said that the launch should happen by next week.

I am still inclined to belive that the launch will be right on the heels of the swift launch going by the activity by Honda on their FB page and some of the teasers uploaded earlier by scorcher.
there was even a flyer uploaded from pride honda mentioning the launch date as 18th feb. Confusion confusion!

Spoke to Apex Honda. They were told 18th was the launch date, but they dont have any further updates from Honda. He did not sound too confident or even very enthusiastic (my personal opinion).

Much as I was looking forward to the launch on the 18th, the month end now seems more likely and don't expect to see the car in the showroom before September. Which in turn makes me pessimistic about the price. If Honda had wanted to cash in on the interest generated post the price cuts, they would have acted fast.

Dealers are usually not kept informed on the date of launch, etc. IMO it should come from Honda to create the hype in the launch!

Cheers!

. Thats whats puzzling me. There is no hint of this on the Honda site. The flyer was from a dealer, all the news we have is via what dealers have told us. And this should not be a big deal, as the new Honda Fit is already available in other countries!!

As of now our only hope is from the Honda facebook page. Think they too will launch the all new jazz through facebook like MSIL.

Ah finally some concrete news.. I hope the Launch goes as scheduled! I was hoping they offer Bluetooth also.. The only differentiation with x now is the auto fold mirrors? Wow

ICB is carrying a story with 18th august as the launch date.. lets see. They have even gone ahead predicting the price starting at 6.5 lakhs

re: Honda slashes price on Jazz as well ? EDIT: Launch pics of new Jazz Pg.56

BT and ACC is not gonna happen in my opinion.

So, it looks like the difference between Base and Select -
Alloys
Reclining rear seat
Front grille

X and Select -
beige versus blue-black interiors
folding mirrors
different alloys?
fogs
spoiler
seat height adjust

I feel the difference between the variants is very less, I expected more variance so that the price range could be wider and appeal to a wider audience.
Since they have not cut on any features, I do not expect price revision to be huge. 6.5L ex-showroom for the base variant seems likely.

Also, the only additional features from the current Jazz are folding mirrors and reclining rear seats - Honda could have done more.
I guess the reclining rear seats is a segment first. Definitely a welcome addition and something which I would be interested in retro-fitting if possible.

Btw, I hate the garnish on the front grille or the back. Seems gaudy and spoils the look - I did not take it though it was offered as a freebie.
The black mesh grill looks classy. Hope they keep it optional.

Checked with Dakshin Honda a week back. And, they are sure that the select variant would be less than 7.5 Lakhs on road. So, the base version might be much below 6.5 Lakhs ex-showroom.
