Even if there is a chance, I wouldn't like to see such mockery of S-class. The owner seems to have something very strongly against MB

In Germany almost all taxis were Mercs at one time. Looks like one of our chaps has decided to move up in life. And when you say "taxi" in India, a carrier is a almost compulsory.

They still are - or were around a year back .... but never saw any mercs except for the M-series with the bars on top

Nothing embarrassing about that. As mentioned by others in Germany Mercs are commonly used as Taxis. The same in Holland as well. The reason for this is because of the solid build quality and reliability.

The white S is actually from Bombay itself and is in the hands of a person who has probably amongst the top 10 collection of cars in India.

No they usually use Maruti 800 and Safaris for such jobs. I was surprised to see a non dealer service garage that specialised in Mercedes near Phagwara a while back. They had quite a few cars in for service including a CLK and a SLK. Loads of tacky american limosines around Jullundhur as well.
