re: New Maruti Alto 800. EDIT : CLEAR scoop pictures on Page 18 & 20

ARAI Mileage of 22.7 ? Wow! Wonder what real world city mileage would be like though... If its close (as in 19-20 levels) and the version with driver airbag is priced sanely, it'll be the perfect car for the first time buyer

I doubt that.

I expect it to be around 14-15 for city and around 18-19 on highway

Cheers,
Sameer

re: New Maruti Alto 800. EDIT : CLEAR scoop pictures on Page 18 & 20

I am getting a feeling that the top variant is going to be slightly over-priced. Maruti is trying to improve the image of Alto and for that they might price the top variant a bit higher than expected. Pricing it around 2.2-3.3 would be fine according to me. I just hope Maruti doesn't keep more than 3 variants for the car!

re: New Maruti Alto 800. EDIT : CLEAR scoop pictures on Page 18 & 20

BS motoring says this new car won't replace current Maruti800, but only current Alto F8D. Imo, they have to bring both the 800 & 1000 cc versions of this new car and replace Maruti800 & Estilo.

Or, is Maruti planning to relaunch the AltoF8D as the new 800, with some restyling and strippig down?

... & the Zigwheels test drive review report of the new 800:

Hopefully our mods must have reviewed the same, but, are waiting till they get the nod to post clear images.

The ACI review is their typical scam, just one Autocar Image which may or may not be. Thank God we have Team BHP for better pics and information. The article is mostly conjecture, I am waiting for the official review here. Looks like Maruti will have another good run here.

re: New Maruti Alto 800. EDIT : CLEAR scoop pictures on Page 18 & 20

saw a blue color edition of this car but it wasnt having any badges at the front or the rear nor any number plates. Seen today in zbangalore near CPRInstitute. The color seemed similar to the swift's midnight blue color. Had the same ridonculous headlamps :(

re: New Maruti Alto 800. EDIT : CLEAR scoop pictures on Page 18 & 20

IAB reports.

Under the hood lies a tweaked 796 cc F8D engine which produces 7 Nm more torque, taking the figure to 69 Nm.
Maruti has reworked the gearbox to enable smooth shifts and the suspension is recalibrated to suit the new package

Maruti Alto 800 will be available with CNG option right from the launch with a claimed fuel economy figure of 30.46 km per kg of CNG

There will be three variants each in petrol and dual fuel versions. The petrol variants are expected to have a price range of Rs. 2.45 lakhs – Rs. 3.0 lakhs and the CNG version will be costlier by around Rs. 45,000, variant to variant

re: New Maruti Alto 800. EDIT : CLEAR scoop pictures on Page 18 & 20 - Now Launched

For once it would actually be a completely new car, a first for the Alto. I hate the rear lamps but overall its a fresh design, Not too fiond of the front lamps either as they are not as clean as the original & refreshed Alto but still its all new.

Not sure why they had to copy the i10's front bumper design.

Comparison of the first spy shots of this car and the current avatar. Maruti modified the front grill, but everything else remains the same.

re: New Maruti Alto 800. EDIT : CLEAR scoop pictures on Page 18 & 20 - Now Launched

Now since we have already seen the i10, Eon and the Figo in the market for quite some time now, this just seems to be like a W & W mod job of some guy bored of the looks of his ageing Maruti 800. This definitely has to be the design output of the same guy that designed the Zen 'Classic' who tried to do a lot of things and ended up with a hideous result. We were eagerly waiting to replace our 10 year old 5-speed 800 with this but I guess we will have to look at other options now.
