Re: New Maruti 800

Cervo is a brilliant looking car. If they sell that for 1.5 - 2 Lakhs. It will sell like hot cakes.

Even i will get one.

Most important is the pricing of that car

Re: New Maruti 800

Not sure about the new M800, 2012 Suzuki Alto/ A-Star facelift has been spotted in China. Here is ICB report on the same:

2012 Suzuki Alto/A-Star hatchback facelift spotted in China | IndianCarsBikes.in

Hope this is upgrade introduced in India soon, with some reduction in price of he base model (around Alto K10)... looks much better than the one on sale these days.

It, however, appears that the headlight design is inspired from the Hyundai's Fluidic theme (Suzuki going Chinese way in China).

I don't quite agree. this is a face lift to the A-star. If Suzuki plans on bringing it here- it would be replacing the A-Star and not as a replacement to the 800/current Alto.
OT: The A-Star's bug eyes did give it a bit of character though. These Eon like headlamps would make everything (A segment) on our roads look a-like!

Re: New Maruti 800

The final info: The 800 replacement will NOT be a cervo or A star facelift. Instead it will be a car designed, engineered and sold in India by Maruti Only. It will be based on the existing alto chassis with a shortened width and track and will carry a modified F8D engine. The pic that was there long time back in ACI spy shots is mostly the actual car.

Just to add to the above: what i've heard is that the wheelbase of the new 800 will be the same as the Alto to give it better legroom inside. Wheel at each corner stance with minimum overhangs to maximise internal volume. Overall length will be shorter than the ALTO 800cc.
Also Maruti is going to trade-off between legroom vs luggage space (like Honda Brio) cut down on bootspace, to push the rear seats as far back as possible to liberate more rear legroom.
Width-wise, i feel it will mimick the japanese kei class norms , which the ALto currently is and that is 1475mm
The F8D will be tuned for even better fuel efficiency. However the F8D maybe replaced in 2015 when the new emissions norms roll in and Maruti will then probably use a new engine, most possibly a 800cc or even a 600cc iteration of the existing K series

Re: New Maruti 800

Why not Cervo for India? I am really surprised that Maruti is not thinking about it after EON is launched & doing good numbers. Cervo has potential to win over Eon. With 800 cc engine it can do wonders for Maruti even if it is priced at Altos level.

Maruti please bring it on ... fast ... I am ready with cash

I think Maruti is not ready to give a snazzy looking car for <3L segment customers. Considering current 800, Alto, Alto K10, Estilo, Omni, Eeco, soon-to-be-launched 800... all are bland designs though most of them sell well. Learn from Hyundai for the Eon design for <3L segment, Maruti.

But above 3L, Maruti has some trendy cars like Swift, Ritz, DZire, Ertiga etc...

That could be another segment to create and exploit in the near future - a 3-door 2-seater with just a luggage shelf at the rear, priced around 1.5lakhs - 1.75 lakhs on-road Kerala (depending on trim-level), powered by a frugal 660cc engine and which would be a cracker for our congested city roads. With reasonable interiors, I am sure it would be a hit in our cities atleast as a 2nd car for those that travel mostly alone on weekdays, with a bigger car for out-station travels. I would buy one in a jiffy to replace wifey's Scooty - throw in an AT and I would gladly pay another 40K or so.

P.S.: M800 on-road Kerala is approx 2.35 / 2.60 for the 2 trim levels in mettalic, not counting discounts.

Already, Suzuki has a model with these arrangements - the Twin. Will it come to India?

Re: New Maruti 800

Yes, just what the doctor ordered. To my eyes, that's a cute car !!! Only unknown is the pricing if they launch this here.
Imagine the fuel-savings (and oil import bill reduction), traffic-reduction, parking-space reduction that these babies will help provide if used in cities.

Instead of bringing in another run-of-the-mill product as a replacement for the iconic M800, MSIL should try something out-of-the-box like this.

Actually, this is the best alternative to Nano. For those who prefer a second car for city use, Twin will suit very well than a no-no Nano.

It has been confirmed that next generation of Maruti Suzuki 800 will discontinue the 800 name and receive new name.Amoung the rumour that currently surface, the replacement may called Cervo. And, The car is not relative to Japanese Suzuki Cervo .

The 800 replacement will be new develop car and will have price around 2-3.5 lakh.Power by 800 CC petrol that develop from Alto F8D engine. It will, at the same time, replace Alto when it arrive as many unformal source say that Suzuki will get rid of 800 CC version of Alto and left only the Alto K10.The Maruti Suzuki 800 replacement will arrive by november 2012

Similar info:

Source: Will Maruti Suzuki replace the Alto by 2012 end with a new small car? | IndianCarsBikes.in

As I mentioned earlier, it would be suicidal for Maruti if they stop production of current Alto800 and replace it with a tallboy. Many new customers may opt out of it.

Also, Alto800 still has a youthfulness associated with it, especially in the new dark blue color, IMO.

Off topic: Anyone for old Suzuki concepts Spry1 or UR1 in Indian market? 2-seaters, compact, and has some character associated to them!
