Re: Nissan Sunny unveiled for the the Indian mid-size market.

Not so 'Sunny' inside!!
I remember somewhere on T-BHP Nissan clarified through GTO? may be, that this new sedan is NOT a Micra with boot and there is nothing common between these 2 cars.

That kind off suggest that with Sunny, Nissan is looking at Verna/City/Fiesta/Vento segment and not Manza/DZire/Etios.

If that's the case then tough road ahead for Nissan!!

Re: Nissan Sunny unveiled for the the Indian mid-size market.

Hey here are some facts about the Sunny (from an undisclosed but very reliable source).

The price will be about 6.3 lac (ex. show Delhi)

The Petrol will have a fresh 1.5L engine, while the Diesel will have the 1.5L Logan engine (to be launched around Dec)

The interiors are extremely spacious with a good 6inches of space in the rear, even after the front seats have slid all the way back

The boot is larger than the Dzire's

The car has sold about 17million units, worldwide

While i tend to agree with the majority of your post.
I think this particular Nissan Sunny launched in India, is an India specific model only. and is quite different from the Sunny's sold abroad.
Nissan is probably using the Sunny monicker as it is widely known across the globe.

God ! It looks like its on stilletos . Such a huge gap between the tyres and the fender . And the design loks like a miniature Altima . And the use of silver bits on the steering makes it look really cheap .

We had a sunny in our family when I was in Dubai and compared to corolla , this car is really bad . I'd prefer the corolla anyday in terms of cabin noise , plush feel . THis car has horrible cabin noise and is not a pleasure to drive at all .

So the Sunny in Dubai is not the same as the Indian one right.
Cause this particular one surely cannot compete with the Corolla.
That's why i said this is an India specific Sunny.

You're right. I think they are just using the name Sunny. And definitely Sunny is not a competition to the Corolla. Here in Singapore, it used to be a choice for people who wanted something cheaper than the City / Vios. To compete with Corolla and Civic, Nissan have the Slyphy.

But at the price of 6.3 lakhs it would be competing more for the Linea, city buyers who IMHO would rather prefer them over the sunny. It would have made some sense to pit it against the Manza and the Dzire.

Hey VB thanks for the clarification.
And always being there to reply to my Q's.
So looks like Nissan feels the Sunny monicker is lucky for them and hence christened this sensible sedan the Sunny.
Hope it does bring sunny days for Nissan India.

Not bad actually . After using one of its avatars in Kathmandu in the 90's I feel a bit partial to this car, lets see at what price Nissan launches it

Re: Nissan Sunny unveiled for the the Indian mid-size market.

The DZire looks better in my view compared to this car with a behind that would give JLo a complex.

Knowing Nissan I don't think it's gonna be any hoot to drive either. It is gonna be kind of in between I guess - just another sedan to grace the ever growing variants of cars in India.

Drive on,
Shibu.

OYE SUNNY!! couldn't resist!

IMO rear looks better than Dzire!! Dzire is more of an oprah rather J LO as mentioned here

Interiors are dull, the steering looks fancy and sleek yet i feel plastic quality is cheap and the silver insert was unnecessary!!!

Uh a technical clarification - I was comparing the Nissan's behind to that of JLo.

Re: Nissan Sunny unveiled for the the Indian mid-size market.

Seeing this excuse of a Sunny (a fond name for Indians in the Gulf), and the pricing of the Micra Diesel, and the half hearted attempts on the Teana and the X Trail both of which are yet to be upgraded in spite of new versions available elsewhere, I pity those people who invested in Nissan dealerships.

Re: Nissan Sunny unveiled for the the Indian mid-size market.

Sunny looks funny.
When will these people learn the concept of designing with clean lines?
Look at Volkswagen, Chevy Cruze...they have clean lines. No clutter. No unwanted curves..for the sake of design.

Re: Nissan Sunny unveiled for the the Indian mid-size market.

Truly a Decent looking Sedan with good quality levels & Highly reputed Brand tag, mated to a Highly frugal & Reliable Diesel engine.
Definitely it's going to gel well with the Notes of Indian customers & If Nissan prices it correctly than nothing can stop this car from writing a Super success story.
