I have witnessed two cases of road accidents wherein a person is lying unconscious after an accident, and a herd of people gathered around him, waiting for Ambulance/Police..
A lot many people travelling in their cars just ignore the situation and not many have the guts to put the person in their own car and take him to a nearest hospital.

Shockingly, most people think it would make their seats dirty, and they would loose their precious time escorting the person to hospital.
We have become so insensitive.

Very few actually take the initiative.. i remember one incident where a TV journo helped a person lying blood bathed on road, and no one was around at mid night... he saved his life, with his courage ..

Please answer sincerely, do any of you really have the guts if you were to save the life of a person without caring about your car or your "precious time"?

I've never been in such a position yet, but if I am, I hope I will help.

Hey, It all depends in which corner of the country I am in when such a situation arises !! I have had 2 bad experiences personally where after helping victims to the hospital I was blamed for the accident with the family and the ******* asking me for money ..... in those days I luckily knew a lot of ppl in the right places so got away ... Only if in Himachal will I stop to help !! That state is still safer and not too much of crime .. yet . Also will matter wether its day or night ... lot of things that will make me stop ..

If I see an accident happening right in front of my eyes .. then most likely I will stop !! But thats the only case ...

Call me cold and uncaring .... but thats just the way I am ..

Cheers

Shouldnt the Govt/ Car Manufacturer help/do something to the ppl who helped the injured person to the hospital??

Sometimes it is best for the paramedics/ambulance to arrive if the victims are suffering some broken bones or some internal bleeding.

The Govt should ensure that the paramedics/ambulances can reach the accident spot as soon as possible and as for the public they should know whom to contact in such situations.

Also, most of the times i have seen careless drivers not giving way to the ambulances and i just feel helpless and frustrated for the victims.

I have never been in that kind of situation, but if iam, ithink i will help

i think many people will help, but what khaddu75 said is also true same experience my uncle went through ,thats what stops most people frm helping

Agree with you 100%
Also the stupid way in which this countries laws are used, who knows if someone dies in your car then person helping might be accused of murder.

You are guessing the reason why people won't help.

People have become insensitive because their goodwill has been abused by conmen and the pedestrian mob.

In Bangalore, the ring road robbers have repeated used the damsel in distress or wounded victim scam to rob many good samaritans. The general feeling among the public is that don't trust anybody after dark on the ring road. I mean who wants to offer help and get robbed.

The situation mentioned by khaadu75 is also quite plausible. I would help if I detect no threat to myself. That's where I would draw the line.

Hey, This is what I mean .. !! And the damsell in distress is one way which has been abused across the breadth and width of this nation so now even if a damsel is actually in distress a lot of ppl even if wanting to help might look away and ignore due to the experiences of others that they have heard of.

Its a real sad situation that an actual victim is left unattended on the road in pain and agony ..... U gotta safeguard yourself or you could be sitting in court in pain and agony !!!

Cheers

same here... though have never been in such a situation

i would help man..but if its during night time and the road is deserted i dont think i would get into the situation...who knows what lies beneath? but if the area is crowded or something like that then ya surely i would help.

Had been in such a situation myself .. A month or two back a maruti car had whacked into the tree at airport road .. The guy was bleeding from head to toe .. As we all were coming back from a tbhp drive , there was a convoy of 3-4 cars .. Being the 1st among them , i saw the accident stopped the car and nearly got out to help .. There were hardly any people who were out to help him .. The car was badly smashed .. Just as i was about to get down , the rest of the boys caught up and didnt let me get down to help .. Usual " dont land urself into unnecessary trouble " was the cathcline and i fell for it ... And today i see the very same bragging about making roads safer etc etc :Frustrati .. So much for all talk no walk funda ..

Learnt a lesson the hard way .. Recently had been involved in an accident with a trucky .. The car flipped and lies totalled (a detailed report will come up soon , once im done with the formalities) .. And hadnt it been for a few guys who had come forward to help ( not to mention the bhpians who were at the spot within a few mintues of having called) , today i guess we would be in a much worse situation .. So i WILL certainly make it a point to help should i come across any such situations ..

PS : didnt mean any offense to any of the boys , but had to put across the facts as they were .. sorry if i hurt anyone ..

It is good to help people but sometimes the victims take advantage.

To cut a long story short, a relative found someone lying in a road (accident victim) so took him to hospital. The rascal then threatened to slap a case against my relative unless he paid him money. So he helps the guy and gets penalised. Since then he stops for no one. It destroyed his trust in other people. The law shoud come down heavily on such people and after they have finished their hospital treatment they should be charged with blackmail.

Interesting topic ... well here in France, the police are always roaming around in the city and in the highways the highway patrol arrive 15mins after any incident on the highway. The paramedics are part of the police/highway patrol and offer assistance incase of accidents. I think this is a very good idea which should be implemented in India as well.
In India, helping out the accident victims means that the police interrogate u as well and u get entangled in the whole incident. Hence, many ppl tend to stay away from such cases. but if faced with such a situation, I would sure try to help !

WE once picked up such a case and took him to hostpital. The people around started pointing fingures at us that we had hit the guy, luckily the truck driver who hit the guy owned up(he also came to hospital).
In india death and trajedy are entertaining tamashas. And with value of life being so low, people will stop to pick up 10rs but not somebody whos lying on a pool of blood.
There have been other incidents where a drunk bike guy skidded and hit his head on the road(No helmet, but luckily no injuries except a bad briuse and scrathces). We stopped to check if he needed help. The mob was there soon itching to somehow point the blame on us so that some thrashing can happen.
Luckily here also the pillion was in his senses and admitted that the guy skidded on hos own.
