Re: The new SLK 350

Alloy wheels is something almost all car makers here seem to ignore no matter how important the model is, but to have Magic Sky Control standard is a nice thing, do not like the front at all also the bumpers look very bland in person unless you choose to get the AMG kit added, and for the love of god why is Mercedes still using Dot Matrix display in the instrument cluster? Certain areas it feels like Mercedes is stuck in the late 1990's.

But the versatile factor of this car should help it sell a lot, so lets see the battle now between this and the Z4.

Sidindica, sure it's this month? I was told C is this month and CLS/SLK is in september?

Regards,

Re: The new SLK 350

Somehow I cannot understand one thing! Why do all models from a manufacturer need to look similar.

Its a trend mostly with the German cars followed by the Korean and Japanses. And now the Amreicans are catching up - Chevy for example.

It becomes boring after a point where all the cars start looking alike.

Re: The new SLK 350

SLK350 has a 0-100 time of 5.6 seconds apparently. 350 is ok for the SLK, but the SL350 at 1cr+ is unforgivable. Also seriously, on the lower end cars Mercedes offers nice rims which don't make the car look under-tired, wonder why they are messing up with their expensive cars.

Re: The new SLK 350

Whatever the new SLK design language is, all of it goes way over my head. Not liking a bit of bit, the SLS fascia is way too classic and brute-looking looking to clone it into a baby face. The rims are serious disappointment. That is one heck of a tail lamp for a car this small. This just doesn't work for me.

See the Z4, and learn!

It does not appeal to me as a design that retains its "roadster" tag. Something amiss here ? As others pointed out, alloys seems a bit outdated in design.

A review put up on MSNBC states "No SLK, not even the AMG versions, was taken seriously as a sports car. Indeed, the SLK has mostly been viewed as a woman’s car."

Re: The new SLK 350

Just came across this article on the internet, talk about bad journalism? They say the only change for the SLK 2011 is the Magic Sky Roof? The car is a whole new car from inside out and it's a shame news like this keep the masses ill informed?

I totally agree. Though it does work with some manufacturers, like Hyundai for example, what it doesnt suit is when ALL manufacturers try to do it & that too with very staid designs. I miss the plethora of designs you would get to look at even from the same manufacturer.

All in all, a big loss for design & aesthetics.

Coming to this car itself, its a total bore.

Agree again. BMW is "THE" brand for the tastiest rims

Score BMW!

Overall, im totally off the Mercedes brand now. There is not one thing that they have going on apart from good aftersales which ive experienced.

All-New Merc SLK 350 (R172) launched in India at 61.9L

Quote:
German luxury car maker Mercedes Benz today announced the launch of 'SLK 350' in India, priced at Rs 61.9 lakh (ex showroom New Delhi).
Commenting on the sales expectations from the new model, Mercedes Benz India Director (Sales and Marketing) Debashis Mitra said: "Last year, we were selling 3-4 cars a month. We hope with the new SLK we will be improving that number".
The new car will come to India as a completely built unit (CBU) and will be available in petrol version, Mitra said, adding that the company sold around 3-4 cars a month of SLK 200 last year.
Speaking about affect of the recent interest rate hikes and increase in cost of petrol on the luxury car segment, Mitra said the impact would not be substantial.
"...the luxury car industry will be impacted, we cannot say it won't be impacted. But the growth rates are extremely impressive now. It will come down to impressive. But I don't think it won't go to low or something like that because its now growing at 50-55 per cent," Mitra said.
