Re: New Hyundai i20! SCOOP pic!

I just hope the i20 won't look like this. This is so bad looking.

But I always thought i20 followed fluidic design. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: New Hyundai i20! SCOOP pic!

That is definitely a photo shopped image and a really bad one at that. They have made a good looking car ugly.
Hope the i20 facelift doesn't turn out this way.

Yes hyundai, add the same face to everything.

Whats wrong with manufacturers these days?If they suddenly make a design that becomes a hit, they just cut and paste it on all their models.Hyundai, audi,VW et al!

re: Hyundai i20 Face-Lift (2012) Spotted for the first time in India on Pg. 2

Here is the link courtesy Carpoint.AU) to spy shots of i20 prototype undergoing testing in Southern Europe:

Future face for Hyundai i20

What is interesting is he fact that the headlights are arranged horizontally as compared to the vertical teardrop shape of the current model. Even the taillights appear breaking away from current trend of the curvy & wraparound shape much in vogue these days. Overall profile is more or less unchanged.

It clears one thing for sure that the photoshopped image in the first post is fake.

re: Hyundai i20 Face-Lift (2012) Spotted for the first time in India on Pg. 2

IMHO i don't think the current i20 requires a face lift, it does require a better suspension & stock tyre set, the engine is great & responsive however a variable geometry turbo would just better the power output. I would like the 6 speed gearbox to come back, it is being sorely missed in my car. Also, the chocolate & light brown interiors also need to be changed. Another recommendation would be to change the ICE to play DVDs as well. Well that's just my wishlist hope H is listening.

Hyundai i20 Facelift Spotted in India!

IAB reader Sharav Venkatesh from Chennai sent us an image of a speeding i20 facelift mule, partly camouflage from Sriperumbudur where Hyundai’s manufacturing facility is located. The wheel caps are the ones we saw on the European mule.
Under the hood we don’t expect anything drastic to change. The current powertrains will play out until a next generation diesel engine is ready.
Recently Hyundai discontinued the 6-speed transmission it shared with the Verna to give the Fludic Verna a clearer distinction.
A rendering.

i20 and ix20 are two different hatchbacks.
ix20 is more premium and expensive compared to i20 and ofcourse the scooped photo doesnt look anything like the ix20.

It should be more like a minor facelift like that of i10.
Hyundai now wants a generic look (read fluidic look) for all its cars.

Hope they do something about the brown interiors too. Black and Beige interiors even as an option would be great. And I wonder what other features are left out in the i20, for Hyundai to stuff inside the already stuffed i20
Only things I can imagine of are, heated rear view mirrors and the parking sensors both of which are being offered in the Hyundai i10 already. And maybe the reversing camera feature from the Verna.

^ The VTVT engine and a proper trip computer like in FVerna.

More than features i20 needs some of basic things to be sorted out :
- permanent solution for the steering issues
- AC and its performance

Some more power from the petrol model and improved handling can go world of good to this hatchback.

Re: Hyundai i20 Face-Lift (2012) Spotted for the first time in India on Pg. 2

I spotted the face-lift i20 yesterday near Vellore on my way back from Ambur.

I could see these "features"
- Double barrel headlights
- Side indicators NOT on the ORVM (possibly a lower version spotted as it did not sport alloys)

The car was doing a steady 90 kmph and was not "jumping" around on the highway at this speed. Hope Hyundai has stiffened its suspension enabling better high speed ride.

Apologies for the low quality of the pictures, thanks to my BB Storm.

Wow! We have more evidence that Hyundai might launch the i20 facelift anytime soon. These photographs should make prospective buyers postpone their buying plans. But, I still believe that instead of upgrading the exteriors, Hyundai should retain the existing design but do more to rectify the suspension, steering and AC related problems in the existing models.
