I was about to book the new dzire today and then swiftnfurious informed me yesterday that the new green tax thing (rs 800000- 100000 tax on diesels is gonna come on this april). That means the dzire im booking now will cost me an extra 1 lakh, by the time it is deliverd. God...no way!!

Does Hyundai have any any any plan for launching the i20 in feb or march. Else i will have to go the jazz way (i dont wanna end up with a petrol car hyundai...pls)

^ There is no clear cut idea of taxes being imposed on diesel cars till now. And if you really want i20 crdi then you can go ahead with the current one which is good enough.

No proper explanation is given until yesterday. every time I ask they are giving stories. fed up with the attitude of the sales personnel, I approached the GM of sales for dealer in Hyderabad. He then tells me that my order is not getting booked by Hyundai in their site. the reason:

Hyundai stopped taking any new orders for the outgoing model. All pending orders are asked to be pushed until end of FEB or early MAR for the face-lift. Hyundai is waiting for the budget/ new production. There is an increase in prices. i20 Asta is being increased by 40K.

I have booked a i20 Asta petrol on 25-Jan 2012. I am getting the delivery on 13-Feb and I can confirm its not the facelifted model. Hyundai just started production of the 2012 i20 in January. Why will they again stop and start in Feb for the facelift?

Also the dealers in Hyderabad are taking new bookings and delivering too for the existing i20.

I Think this should be the upcoming face lifted i20.This car was launched some time back in Europe.

The F/L news is confirmed as the production is stopped currently. But the prices have NOT been increased as of now. the Asta with AVN has seen a 10k price drop though. Even in petrol, the dealers are quoting a 2 month wait. Pricing for F/L hasnt been finalised, only after the budget we can come to know.

I was driving to Sriperambadur today for some personal work, late evening and I saw 2 not so well disguised cars (clearly i20) together with the current model of i20 being tested on the highway..

Iam booking an i20 tomorrow. 2012 model and the car is in stock. Anyway im delaying the delivery till march 15, so if by any chance the new i20 is launched by march, i can cancel the booking and go for the new i20 , but will dare to do that only if the dealer promises me to deliver the vehicle for april. Too narrow a window i guess.

The goverment is gonna impose additional taxes on diesels. I have a very bad feeling about that. And most of the time these bad feelings ends up true.
Lets wait and see. And those alloys looks great.

From what I saw - it was a standard RHD vehicle..

The alloys were indeed good and the car looked a bit more sharper than usual.

The alloys are somewhat similar to other Hyundai stock alloys sold in other market isn't it?/

i had called up the showroom for a test drive. Also inquired about the booking and was told that currently they are not taking booking. The sales person said that the facelifted model will get launched in about 45 days time.

I think many of the dealers arent informed about the launch. I called the main KTC branch today and the sales person told he doesnt have any idea about the new launch. Called another ktc branch (sibling branch of ktc itself) and the guys said that the new model is in their main yard at chennai

Hyundai is going to launch the vehicle in the Geneva motorshow 2012 (march-8-18). And Since Hyundai has the habit of starting production before the launch so that they can start the delivery as soon as the cars is out, there is still chance for the potential i20 buyers to get their vehicles before the excise duty thing.
