Saw the same cars on the chennai-bangalore highway. It was a Hyundai and had left hand drive.

Why are they testing left hand drives in here?

Also, I am really sure thats the ix20! Notice the warning lamps button in the center of the console in the pics:

Testing for hot and humid markets I guess. Well its cheaper to test in India than in Europe or the US (I guess)! Good for us! So not it will not be just "made in India" but also "Tested in India"..he.he.not sure how much value that will carry!

Thats indeed the i20. The ix 20 is taller and more MPVish. Some manufacturing is done for the export markets also, hence the LHD seen on India.

it is facelifted i20. not the ix20, notice the difference between A pillar, rear glass and also rear wiper.

OMG!! It now looks like a hatch version of fluidic verna, just like Swift and Swift Dzire!

(in the above magazine pic, dont the tail lamps seem to go way too high(i10 like?))
+ I can see OEM parking sensors on the bumpers + headlamp washers!

Anyways, I hope they put in some nice DRLs in there and eliminate the rattles once and for all!

While i own a SWIFT, we have a i20 at home (petrol) as well and none of the drivers at home want to drive it. They insist that SWIFT is the modern day's ambassador (in the sence, comfortable & easy for elders to sit etc) and i should instead drive the i20. While the steering is light, it is rawther low to sit, no feedback from the road and also the elders dont like getting in and out of the i20.

I hope the new i20 takes care of all these issues since it is definetely more spacious and good looking.

IMO, I liked the clean lines of the i20. Looks like a modern and sophisticated hatch. Very European. This one looks a bit aggressive and a bit unfriendly. I prefer the older one.

First time I am seeing a comparison between swift and amby !

I feel Swift too isn't very comfortable to get and out + the rear seat is definitely not better than i20.

This one has indicators on the ORVMs. And from the looks of it, I suppose it has the alloy wheels.

The i20 worldwide still has the Red interior lighting scheme. When the i30 was launched, it had the Blue-White lighting. After a year of its launch, the back-lighting for i20 in India was changed to the current Blue-White scheme. Is it possible that they might be revamping the interiors based on the ix20 which was launched recently? I agree that externally, it does not look like the ix20.

Nice catch there H14,the new i20 looks more masculine now, hope they alter the shoulderlines and profile of side panels to make it more sporty.Atleast now hyundai should offer a black dash for a rich look than a wierd chocolate one.
On a lighter note was the driver screaming at you? Pls blur his face lest he risk loosing his job :-).
