other inference that i could make out is majority of the voters in the forum belong to higher income bracket (upper middle class and above) and arent bothered about things like FE,maintenance,re sale value etc..
I agree.

There are lots of reasons why the polling here doesn't reflect actual market condition.
1. We are very tiny fraction of auto enthusiasts (a bit on crazier side).
2. Majority of people who buy cars don't ever consult internet for decision.
3. During poll, we submit our own option. But actual purchase decision often influenced by family members choice who often decide a different car.
4. There is no way to determine if people has voted just for fun. (ie they voted for their dream car but in reality they will buy some other model).
5. There are probably more discussion on higher segment (expensive) cars in team-bhp than lower segment (cheaper) cars. That's another indication that it does not truly represent Indian auto sector mindset.

I voted for the Palio. I have a S10 and can't think of buying any other car. It's the best hatch in India, very addictive and like Fiat says, built with passion.

This has become more of a hatchback battle.
The Swift, Getz, Palio 1.6 and Ambassador aren't exactly "entry level" cars. The Versa isn't even a car. It's a van.
And if it's just a battle which asks me which are my favourites, the Palio 1.6 and Amby would rule.

I was going to vote for the Palio at first but reliability and service gave me second thoughts.
Then I thought about the Wagon R. I was about to choose it actually but I do really hate the gear shift.
It's the Swift for me then.
Where I'm staying, Maruti rules. Hehehehehe

Cant agree more with you Amit.I own a 1.2 myself.I think its the best thing to have happened to my life! She finds a big big place in my heart.Probably more than my girlfriend.she may not have the punch of the 1.6,but the razor sharp and well weighted steering is a class act.Too addictive.I remember reading somewhere about the old Sienna that the 178 platform chassis and ride quality is second only to mercs! http://www.bsmotoring.com/2001/01oct13_1.htm .Now that is some statement for an "entry level" hatchback. After driving Palio, try driving a Santro or Wagon R on an open road.I guarantee you wont have the courage to take it above 80 km/h.Ok thats enough.Fiat's troubles apart, the palio 1.2 remains the best "entry level" hatch in India according to me

I actually want to vote to swift, but I voted for Palio.
Why?
Just becoz I own a Palio 1.2 OV? I really don't know. But one thing is sure, Palio is too good!

Exactly. This is what i mentioned in my reply.

I would never ever recommend a first time driver/entry level buyer an Ambassador/Palio/Versa.

Looks like the topic should be renamed "Your favourite hatchback".

yeah, i agree that the question in the poll is misleading. i have expressed my intention in post #43, suggest you to go thru it.
