Was thinking of dropping by tomorrow on my way to Yelahanka (bus, so no parking issues). Now going to re-think.

Which cars are on display? Anything interesting?

re: Times Auto Show 2011 - Bangalore

Went to the auto-show today. It was a waste of time for anyone looking for new or to-be-released vehicles. There was the New Swift and New Passat. All in all it was like a large showroom of all manufacturers together.

I managed to climb into the Etios and experience the interiors myself. Apart from the finish of the top of the dash (textured), I think it is poorer than the Manza's interiors. There were sharp edges on the inner door arm-rest, everything was hard and hollow. The driver's door refused to close despite varying levels of force applied. It is pretty spacious and airy, though. Ergonomics were pretty good for me (5'11"). Since this was the VX model, the steering wheel was just beautiful. This was a 5 minute impression, and I didn't get to even start it.

One rather interesting vehicle was this Micra:

Interiors had red and black leather upholstery only on the seats, with no changes to the rest of the interiors.

Unfortunately I didn't ask about any mechanical differences, but going by the interiors I thought this was just a body kit, stickers and alloys, possibly offered as options by the dealer. But then I noticed the indicators on the ORVMs. Is that standard? There is an XV standing next to it (Yellow) which doesn't have them.

There were a couple of shaft driven BMW bikes, but since I wasn't too interested in bikes, I didn't take any pics.

The stunts performed (all Pulsars, I assume 200/220s) were quite ordinary, without coordination or choreography. I was expecting something along the lines of the 220 advert Obviously expecting too much.

I visited yesterday. Yes, its looks to be a showroom with all brand of cars. If someone is looking to buy a new car then they get see all the cars in one place instead of going to each show room. plus, there are some vintage cars and bikes. some accessories shops too.

Yes, I visited yesterday as well. If you're looking to buy a car soon, and can't finalize which segment which brand etc, this is the best opportunity for you.

Otherwise also, it was NOT a disaster. I went with very low expectations. Better than the Vaahan Yatra which used to happen in Whitefield.

You could sit in some of the expensive cars (Montero, Teana) and use it to benchmark the rest.

Hi Omar,

It was a white color 370Z. The car was cardoned off and had real dark tints, so cannot really see the interior colors, but should be black I suppose. I have not downloaded the pictures till now, so will upload the same once I have them with me, I hope someone would be posting it by today..

Re: Times Auto Show - Bangalore - DON"T GO!!!

Complete waste of 100 bucks!!! Period. This is the first and last time i'm visiting any Auto-Show in b'lore. Disgusting to say the least.

Most car and Biker maker's have not even bothered to take part!!! That should tell one how great the show is.

Very small display area to begin with. The only big bikes on display was from Honda (VFR1200) and BMW (S1000RR and R 1200GS)

Car makers- Nissan (Teana, Micra and 370Z)
Mitsubishi- Cedia Sports, Montero and Outlander. No EVO X!!!!
Maruti Suzuki- Swift, Sx4 and less insignificant cars. No Kizashi!!!
Toyota- All the cars seen in showroom
Chevy- Same story.
VW- New Passat on display

Missing car makers- BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Jaguar to name a few.

Re: Times Auto Show - Bangalore - DON"T GO!!!

Absolute waste of Rs100 ! Parking was bad, Dusty and broken up parking lot. We came out in less than 15 minutes. I wanted to stand outside with a big board warning others not to go in. It was that bad.

How can they call this an Auto show?
Note to self - What else can we expect from Times of India

Yup, as confirmed by informmaha, it was a white one. I didn't get a look at the interiors. It was cordoned off, separately on an inclined stand. Guess they didn't want anyone to check it too closely

re: Times Auto Show 2011 - Bangalore

Hi,

Went to the auto show on saturday and found it to be good as for once it was not clubbed with interior show but again, same old plain jane show. Hyundai did not show case the santa fe, i20 doors were locked and major attraction was the new verna. olny the Nissan stall was big and well set up.

Nissan showcased a black micra with nismo stickers and good alloys.

Vintage cars and bike has some attention. Jag in sliver looked really cool and stunning. Few random clicks below.

re: Times Auto Show 2011 - Bangalore

Despite this place hosting horrible auto shows, I did end up going for it on Saturday. There were a huge number of cars in the parking lot, but surprisingly when we went in, the halls were not crowded at all. And it almost emptied by 0730. I guess it was because there was a handicraft exhibition also taking place in the other venue, so people parked here

Anyway, as for the show, I never expect anythig from the Bangalore shows. After witnessing the real auto shows that take place in Delhi, and finding even that to be of quite poor standards (but yes, it does attract all the big brands and there are a fair bit of concepts as well), one cant expect Bangalore to come up with a good show. They cant afford to attract, organize and conduct one. Period.

The show was basically like a big car dealership showcasing multiple brands. And, by now it is quite boring to see the same classics, year on year on year. ;-(

The only thing I enjoyed was the display by a company called Motorminds. They had two very well done up Cruze's and a BMW and Merc. The company was showcasing its body kits and body wrap foils. Those 4 cars were great lookers. I personally also found the Nissan Micra Sport to be in good taste.

Apart from this, there was nothing else to talk about. Usual display of the everyday cars. Hardly any accessories at all. There was only Reliance Autozone, but their stall was setup like they were having a garage sale. Others were all these massagers, and other non relevant stuff. All in all, sad experience.
