Re: BMW India to launch 330d Convertible!

Looks stunning ! Im sure it will be a greater success to BMW than what the e coupe waa to Mercedes india .
They bring out the two most significant things about the car just by the stickers. The brilliant FE and the amazing power

Not sure if its true but it only comes with a soft top. and to me, any soft top is a deal breaker.

Re: BMW India to launch 330d Convertible!

BMW is going to launch the 330d convertible at 57 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi, which IMO is a good move given it has a foldable hard top, a diesel mill and as ACI mentions "an insanely powerful diesel engine".

Re: BMW India to launch 330d Convertible!

I'm assuming that this is based in the old E93 3er? It has more than a passing resemblance to the current one, and looks nothing like the new gen-3-Series. Why? Why can't BMW give us a convertible version of the brand new F30 3er? Especially since the launch of the new 3-Series is just round the corner?

That said, it's a good move. Opens up a whole new market for BMW. There might be a few takers, but that will make all the difference to them. Would Mercedes and Audi follow suit? Hopefully..

Thats because the new convertible will be launched in 2013. The E93 was facelifted recently and even sports the white Led Corona rings.

Anyway, this pricing is rubbish. I don't see many people buying it. 57 ex showroom is insane, when a Z4 is just 7-8 lacs more and the 640d is 75 ex showroom. Anyone in their right mind would save up the 20 more and put in into the 640d.

That is quite expensive. But I guess there are takers for every car in the market. Someone looking for a car that can seat 4 and provide wind-in-the-hair fun @ 50 lakhs will have to look at this, as it's the only option out there, unless he's willing to spend more and buy a 650i or a Mercedes E-Cabriolet.

Although, the question would arise. Who would specifically want a 4-seat convertible? Over-charging Dentists in their 50s?

Re: BMW India to launch 330d Convertible!

Looking at the tech specs i am rather surprised. The 530d has the same HP but is given 20nm torque more as a result it is .2 quicker than the 330d convertible. I was hoping the 330d convertible would be quicker than the 530d since its smaller and perhaps lighter. A sub 6 second 100km.hr timing would be ideal for this convertible.

On the day the new 3 series was launched, BMW was offering a massive 8 lakh discount. I don't about the present scenario though.

Re: BMW India to launch 330d Convertible!

^^ First one or not i dont know but if it is the same one that i saw a few weeks ago (that one was white as well on tc plates) then i pity the car as it was driven by some maniac and all he cared about was showing off or being seen in a BMW.
Both samples in the front seats were behaving like idiots and seemed like they had not a care in the world while driving such an expensive and beautiful vehicle.
I highly doubt they owned it.

Could be service centre guys, or the owner's staff. When I saw it, a 20ish woman was driving it. She very much looked like the owner.
