Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch 20 models in 5 years!

While the news is good, wonder what is holding back Maruti from introducing a few sporty models. I mean swift is good, no doubting that, but if a coupe is introduced I'm sure it 'll sell like hot cakes. Imagine a all made in India - Coupe. Bring it on Porsche.

No offense meant here but IMHO there was no uniqueness at all associated with a swift. It was too common a car, this made me wait and go for the Ritz.
No offense, but I never meant that Ritz don't have a uniqueness associated with it. Counter arguing with fuel_addict on his point of "same engined but cheaper priced car will sell more", I was saying that though both have same engine, the pricier Swift outsells Ritz because Swift also has something unique (style, more than anything else, IMO) to it which goes well with the customer. That doesn't mean that Ritz don't have that character. It's the most unconventional but dynamic looking car on Indian roads, IMO.

Okay, just pure sales doesnt decide which car is better in the indian market. Some indian consumers just buy car for the heck of it ,if it's common on indian roads and they feel common cars are better so lets go with them rather than trying out a new one.I think not more than 50% of the buyers actually do good amount of research before buying a car in india. This is scene in india from the last 20 odd years and will not change for I dont know how many more years !!

Interior part quality on the Ritz is far better than the Old swift, Check team bhp review or just take the look at the interiors in real. dash has dual tone dark colours, that is almost twin coating of plastics. Metal quality and build quality unlike other cars from the maruti stable.
(Note : I have not checked out the new swift in detail yet)

And coming to your point of "Swift outsells Ritz because Swift also has something unique " and "Ritz is dynamic looking car" Did you know Ritz is the first car from MSIL stable to clock the fastest 1 lakh cars sold and the fastest 1.5 lakh cars sold milestone?, You will see the sales of the Ritz Climb moving forward, the reason being the price difference till date between swift and ritz was about 10-25k. Thus consumers felt buying a swift was a better option.
After the new Swift has come the price difference has become 60-80k on the equal variants, pls ritz has lots of space inside, plus a large boot, plus a 60:40 rear seat spilt, Enormous Road presence too.

The service station staff are specialised on specific parts of the automobile, which is how they manage to work with so many different types of vehicles. There's one person to handle electricals, another to handle air conditioning. If there are old or uncommon models for repairs at the service station, work on its parts are contracted out to other service stations. My last visit to the Varun Motors MASS, Begumpet, Hyderabad was for a starter and a power steering belt on the Maruti Esteem Di 2004. The belt was replaced by Varun Motors while the starter repair was contracted to another service station. Varun Motors handled the dealings with its contractor and delivered the vehicle on-time .

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch 20 models in 5 years!

Anybody has idea of possible launch date of Ritz face/backlift ?

Also what all can be expected apart from cosmetic changes on exterior? Can we expect following -
  • Lighter fuel tank and other re-engineering to lighten the vehicle for increasing the FE
  • Backlift - or substantial changes in back to make it more acceptable to Indian taste (if at all Maruti see this as a roadblock in sales)
  • Any changes in feature list to make trims configuration consistent with Swift
  • Anything else that you feel will be there

Calling the Team-BHP Gods or people having insider info for throwing some light!
