Re: Mercedes-Benz India C-Class facelift soft launched!

999,

I have already mentioned in the opening post, the C200 CGI comes with the 7G-Tronic, at this time I am not able to post the fact on why the 250 was given the 5 speed transmission, but during the dealer training the question was raised and the answer given by Mercedes-India was that the torque can be better enjoyed with the 5 speed, how far is that true I am not aware so that question will only be answered in time, but coming to the point it's not such a bad thing to have that transmission as some of Mercedes-Benz's best cars are using that or modified version of the 5 speed transmission and those cars include the S600, S65 AMG, CL600, CL65 AMG and SL600,

And also do note C63 while available is not exactly a mainstream product and at most they will have a car or so in stock but rest will have to be on order.

Regards,

Re: Mercedes-Benz India C-Class facelift soft launched!

Is the 7G AT = dual clutch, DSG-like? Are they reliable compared VW DSG that is known to be problematic?

Re: Mercedes-Benz India C-Class facelift soft launched!

androdev,

The 7G earlier had loads of issues but has had various upgrades and it's now in it's 6th year of production and a pretty reliable transmission, it is not a dual-clutch transmission which Mercedes-Benz makes only for their AMG cars, and like i said, go ahead and get the C200 CGI, if you do not wish to spend so much money do wait a few weeks for the lower variants to come in, but I understand you fancy a sunroof, what better than the entire sky over you?

Do post the ownership report soon!

Regards,

P.S DSG too now has pretty much been sorted out and is quite reliable.

Re: Mercedes-Benz India C-Class facelift soft launched!

Is the C200CGI priced at 29.79L the avantgarde trim or the elegance?
Different sources are quoting different variants so I am confused.

Trust me sir, the best source for you will be this site, none of us have ever really posted mis leading information, and the prices I quoted are for the fully loaded avantgarde versions which are the only ones available for now, in few weeks the elegance and classic will follow but it's only avantgarde for now.

Regards,

Is navigation available as an option now? The audio section on the website mentions that it can be optionally specced with a BECKER MAP PILOT system. The brochure however does not metion anything on optional equipment.

suneet_ag,

Yes the Navigation system is possible on the C-Class, in fact they had an option before the facelift also via some USB key, if this is the same device I cannot confirm but now you do have this as a dealer option.

Ignore the brochure, just speak to the dealers they will help you out.

Mercedes-Benz India since the 27th August 2011 has soft launched the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class and most cities have a private preview at malls or hotels depending on the place where you are located.

Most displays are using the C200 CGI using the 7G-Tronic transmission in 'Avantgarde' trim which includes for the first time in it's segment a panorama roof, and intelligent light system and Advanced Park guidance system. The car while a facelift is quite an extensive facelift pictures of which have been posted in another thread,

The models that will be launched for now are C200 CGI and C250 CDI, in Avantgarde & Elegance trims, Elegance models lose the Panorama roof instead you get a normal sun roof, and also instead of the aluminium trim you have wooden trim and ofcourse few other minor changes, like the grill without the star, and the only negative as mentioned is the C250 CDI for now will not have the 7G transmission reasons for which are not given.

Do call your local Mercedes-Benz dealer for more information, or else you may wait for next week when official prices will be out.

Regards,
On the C250 - What are the differences b/w Avabtgarade and Elegance trims ?

It's a little confusing on the brochure and the dealers here aren't too good with specifics.

Till now I can only see the Panaormic roof, chrome/metallic in the interiors and leather quality/type - anything else besides that ?

Also, do these cars have navigation/maps as an add on ? Nothing stock ? Not even basics like other low end cars come with these days ? Or Becker Pilot maps are only a fancy and feature rich addition to replace the stock navigation interface ?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

About the grill how can it be changed ? if you have friends/contacts in Mercedes or any dealers can you please help me find out the cost of the ICE for the rear seats, I called dealers, visited them as well as mailed - got no revert, C250 is due for delivery next month and would be nice to know if rear ICE is worth it or not.

Also any more clarity on the navigation will be very helpful.
Thanks for the help.

PS: I find the steering on Elegance better somehow, even the alloys - but agree that leather, roof and grill is a big miss on it; but had no choice here.

Just thought I'd update I got a response from the dealer.

The rear ICE for the C is 1.8lacs for two screens and 1.2lacs for one screen.

Navigation is surprisingly NOT part of the C - and is another 1.25lacs.

Also, can anyone update me about the grill please? I'd like the Avantgarade grill on my Elegance!

Also, any special care to be taken considering the color is black?

Thanks.

Congrats on your C-Class and maintaing black color is very difficult, since I too own a black Vento. Each and every speck of dust is highlighted. Use only microfiber cloths to clean the surface and not any cloth as it could cause scratch & swirls marks.
For dusting the car use Jopasu Car duster, takes 5 min and your car would be dust free. If you have 3M Car care in Delhi, do get paint sealant treatment done on the car as it would protect it in the long run.
Refer to this thread and it would help you a lot.

In the end I would still say a waxed and clean black color car can give any other color car a run for its money.

You can ask the dealer to change the grill, this can be part of your negotiation and they should do it free. I've personally managed to have them say yes for it, though I didn't buy the car post td.
