I hope this is not a tall boy. The market is so missing the jelly bean zen.

Overpriced?

I feel that this is overpriced for an 800CC. If Hyundai has to fight with Alto definitely it needs to be priced around 2.5L. A 3L can be justified only with extra features, power steering, power windows etc.

I am not sure how many people would buy a 800 cc car for this price. I feel that this car should be competing with Maruti 800 and Nano. If the price is competant with these cars, it can eat up 800 and Nano sales. Santro is already considered to be the competant for Alto.

SOHC?
4 valves per cylinder = 2 intake + 2 exhaust = DOHC
3 cyl x 4V = 12V

Am i right or wrong?

Dude ! even i10 with 1.1L irde engine has 4valves per cylinder for total 3 cylinders. But its still an SOHC !!

I think first of all we need to draw relation between sohc /dohc & no.of valves for intake & exhaust

DOHC - Double Overhead Cam Shafts - one cam shaft operating the intake valves and the other the exhaust valves. Thats it!

Even if a V6/V8 has 4 cam shafts in total (2 each for the 2 cylinder banks) they are termed as DOHC engines.

Apparently, there seems to be no necessary relation between no. of valves and no. of cams.

Looked up in Wiki and found this article

Overhead camshaft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So, while some companies have 1 cam operating 1 valve, there are others
who operate 2 valves with 1 cam, 2 valves with 2 cams and even 5 valves with 2 cams.

Today's Hindu carried news of the new launch. The car is supposedly smaller than the Santro and priced lower than the same.
Exciting. Alto should face some serious trouble.

Expect the new 800cc car at the Auto Expo. Will cause quite a flutter
