re: Hyundai EON - *UPDATE* Fresh SCOOP pics on pg.5 & 6

Someone above asked "Why can't they keep the name Santro?" . We guys here are well versed with auto industry but people who are outside may not know that the Santro (if name not changed) in market is the new one. They would get confused and go towards i10. New names create buzz and helps in better marketing.

Agreed. People would not want to buy a new Santro, rather a altogether new car will be more attractive anyday.

Looks to be a nice product, it will be interesting to look at the starting price, mileage and features list as this will be the key factors that will make it or break it. It is always good to have a product at the base of the market so that you can build brand loyalty, just the way Maruti has done over the years with 800 and alto.

I think more than Alto, it will hurt the sales of Chevrolet Spark which starts at 2.6 Lakhs?

I see at least one big advantage of retaining the name "Santro" - the resale values of the older Santros will not go for a toss. A model that is discontinued takes a major hit to its resale price, if the model name lives on, prices can be salvaged to some extent.

That said, this car is not in the same category as the Santro - spec, price, quality wise, it might be cheaper than the existing Santro Xing. Not so sure if would have ended up diluting the value instead of helping. Since it is a new vehicle at a lower segment, I think Hyundai did the right thing by going with a different name.

Looks great. Still no news on the engine.

This is also a hotly contested segment in Europe with cars like Twingo, Aygo and the C1.

I was wondering why not the name i5. The name suggests what exactly it is - a baby i10.

*SCOOP* Hyundai's new small car, the Eon!

Autocar India has revealed that Hyundai has a small car in the pipeline. It's called the 'Eon', and should be slotted below the i10, and effectively replace the ageing Santro as well.

The car will be powered by a 800 cc, 3-pot engine that produces 50 horses. It promises great FE figures and the power should be adequate for city driving. No news on an AT yet, although you can't rule it out.

The Eon should look contemporary. It looks like a scaled down version of the i10. Word on the street is that the Eon is expected sometime in October, but that's a bit optimistic, if you ask me!

Expect it to be priced around 3-4 lakhs, ex-showroom.

re: Hyundai EON Now Launched! Prices between 2.7L - 3.71L Ex-Delhi!

Looks bigger, boxier than Maruti 800. When is it launching? Anyone spoke to any dealer? I called up Advaith in Bangalore. They're not giving me any info.

A dealer salesman mentioned it launching soon - cannot wait for the choice options.

Dramatic lines and curves! The rear wheels look puny under that body work.

But looks good,especially the rear!

This has to be the best looking Hyundai hatch. And once new M800 is also launched the nano sales would be halved.

Looks really good and has design cues from the bigger i30. But the rear 3 quarters is slightly messed up. Either the fenders look too big or the tires too small. Overall, the car looks larger than the i10 I believe.

Looks pretty good (for an entry level car and a replacement to the Santro Xing).

Side profile reminds me of the Chevrolet Beat!

Looks like the competition is going to heat up with Nano going to suffer the most.

Cheers!

Its typically Hyundai, overstyled and fluidic !! Looks nice and will certainly hurt the competition at around 3L on road.

is it me, or does this look like one of those things that fell out of men in black without its disguise! Those tiny wheels on the giant body sure need an upsize!!!
