re: Hyundai EON Now Launched! Prices between 2.7L - 3.71L Ex-Delhi!

Really nice looking car.. both interior and exterior.
IMO Eon got all the design language of the Fluidic generation.
The rear hatch and tail lamps of Eon looks similar to the International Verna/Accent Hatch.

re: Hyundai EON Now Launched! Prices between 2.7L - 3.71L Ex-Delhi!

This one has success story written all over it . If they price it around three lack mark , not just the Alto and Santro but even the i-10 will come under intense pressure . With
Hyundai's strong after sales and service network , this car is going to be an instant hit . Maruti's monopoly days in this segment are surely numbered now . Kudos
to Hyundai for coming out with such a well rounded product. Maruti now just cannot resort to upgrading headlamps and grills to counter this car .They have to come up
with something much more substantial .

re: Hyundai EON Now Launched! Prices between 2.7L - 3.71L Ex-Delhi!

As many have pointed out, the Maruti story may be up for an altogether change if the product is priced right. Product is good looking, has reasonably good boot space as I understand fromt posts, and has reasonably good list of goodies like usb/ aux port or tilt steering, which are not that expensive to provide at all. It looks Maruti is going through rough times.

re: Hyundai EON Now Launched! Prices between 2.7L - 3.71L Ex-Delhi!

I don't subscribe to the thought that Santro will be discontinued. Every manufacturer is looking at increasing their market share today and if eon is a replacement, Hyundai will not be really increasing market shares. I am sure there will be a little bit of cannibalization within their range of cars, but think about it Hyundai showroom enquiries are going to be full soon and their staff will find some one who finds the Santro or i10 better. So at the end you will see Santro and i10 numbers increasing or worst case marginally dropping.
My take: great job Hyundai, tough days ahead Maruti

If the FE is above 17-18, then this for sure will be a pocket rocket! Eagerly waiting for the review from TBHP.

P.S. I had only one car in mind until now, the Jazz, which is still an excellent car and by no means I'm comparing these two. But due to budget, I think this car is excellent VFM for me now.

Sankar
Recently, I accompanied my friend to the Honda showroom to see the jazz. We liked the jazz and almost decided it. The purchase procedures to commence soon. But, after seeing the pictures of Hyundai Eon and its pricing, today I sent an SMS to my friend to have an immediate look at the eon before finalising the Jazz. Many of you may feel it funny, but, I seriously find no reason to go for the jazz which is priced much much above the eon !!!!

Well done Hyundai , Lots of options. Airbags on atleast on the top model is a welcome move. ABS wont be necessary for such a small power engine. Does all of this model comes with LPG option also or LPG limited to certain models?

re: Hyundai EON Now Launched! Prices between 2.7L - 3.71L Ex-Delhi!

Seems like Hyundai is poised to become the new Maruti of India. Hyundai is making progress in each and every segment. Boy! their fluidic designs are a treat to the eyes! If Eon is getting those interiors and a decent enough driving potential (which I am sure it will) this will surely set the sales chart on fire! I think i10 and Eon will be Hyundai's answer to Ritz and Wagon R. I think Santro's price will be lowered a bit inorder to accomodate EON. There will be overlap ofcourse but then overall Hyundai's sales will increase massively. I just hope Hyundai has enough service centres to service such a huge volume of cars. Bringing the right products is just the first step which Hyundai is doing pretty well. But to keep the loyalty of customers within hyundai, Service has to be good. Hyundai are not that bad but they could really become a better brand by improving their after sales service.

re: Hyundai EON Now Launched! Prices between 2.7L - 3.71L Ex-Delhi!

Hyundai are past masters at straddling two segments with their pricing. Just look at i10 - IRDE starts at 3.5L and top-end kappa goes up to 6L. Or the Verna that has models going from 7.3L to 11.5L.

Eon is a pretty small car, probably meant to do for Hyundai what Astar never achieved for Maruti. I think Hyundai will give Eon the killer-edge with starting models that threaten the Alto, and models that compete with versions of Santro/ i10/Astar/Ritz/Wagon R, with top-end ones that probably sit 1.5L above the starting price (Or even more if diesel is involved. 3-pot crdi Eon anyone? yup, like the Chevy Beat).

There's a large market in India - mostly outside the metros - for cars that are cheap to maintain and repair. People buy base version with AC, aftermarket music system and even black unpainted bumpers to avoid the cost of repairing nicks and scratches. The Eon's chiseled looks will hurt when it comes to that dent the local doodhwalla's milk drum gave you. The trusty Santro and Alto can continue to be successful there. With the depreciated plant and tooling, it makes sense to continue making Santro, though the numbers will drop.

Just when I was thinking where did you disappear ! Looks good, now we need to know where the pricing starts at. I am sure this car will click well among the masses. Hyundai has learnt really well how to price their cars in India to make it a block buster. Are we missing the power & torque figures? I hope sid continues to excite us with an early report on XUV 5-O-O as well. Thanks anyway !

The Hyundai folks have got it right, but i always have a couple of gripes with Hyundai. Who in their right mind would prefer airbags over ABS?

good overall package, let us see how this goes.

+ 1.
Airbags without ABS! "No sir, we can't prevent the skid, but you'd be safe when it crashes!" ABS should have been present (atleast optional) in the highest variant!

That said, Hyundai has got it right! If the pricing is near Chevy spark levels (Need not be as low as Alto!) - Maruti, GM and other small car makers better run for cover till the can offer something better!

Was looking for a better engine spec though (Like Alto K10), but i guess that would be too much of an ask!

Also, no Alloy wheels on top end.
Overall, the car looks well made. The fluidic design looks really good. In this segment looks and FE are paramount and it has all the potential to be a huge success IMO.

@sidindica: Thanks for the Eon spec sheet. Had Hyundai given ABS with all the other toys it would have been 'more' complete. Probably, Hyundai is reserving it for another iteration of the Eon.
