No news on the DSG, the DSG will push up the price by atleast a lakh so i guess Skoda is trying to avoid it here.

1.8 TSI is powerful enough to deserve a RS badge for India, though 2.0TFSI(For the extra performance) or 2.0TDI 170hp(For the ability to deliver FE even when smoking tires) could have made the car a lot more tempting. With just the TSI engine i hope they are not expecting volumes out of this variant, enthusiasts with high usage still would want to go in for the TDI DSG.

My favorite RS would have been 170hp TDI DSG, never mind i can always get the engine remapped and get the kit. The real driver's RS would have been the 2.0 TSI MT. Let's wait for the launch..

Don't worry about this, all variants of Laura in India including the bare basic 1.8 TSi Classic come with Traction Control System(Called ASR in Skoda language), so the RS will have the TCS.
I agree with you on most of above. If these news articles are indeed true, the RS in my eyes is completely pointless. A smoking hot diesel engine or even petrol engine with higher specs makes sense. They're simply dressing it up and charging presumably a whole lot more for cosmetic kit.

I they must open up the Laura franchise to a wider audience, I'd say offer up the DSG on the petrol with better trim level - elegance or whatever.

+1. I was speaking to a general manager sales in one of the skoda dealership and it's correct that the Laura VRS will be launched anytime soon. It would be MT, 160hp, priced in the range of 15 to 16 Lacs ex showroom. He also said that exteriors will have minor changes but interiors will be bit different from the existing Laura. He didn't reveal other details like will there be a DSG option or not.

It's not too far - let's wait & watch!

Hi Everyone,

I got this very interesting breaking news from Briskoda today:
The Laura VRS (special version) breaks the 200 MPH speed barrier!

Please, fellow Indians... Buy this car in hordes. I would like to have a nice selection in the pre-worshipped market a couple of years down the line.

Got the pic from a friend. Cars already being road tested by magazines.

6Speed Manual, no change in suspension only 16inchers giver a stiffer ride.
Same 1.8Tsi engine. DRLs et all...

Those look like the same rims on the Jetta. What is Skoda doing? Not even 17s, no DSG?

re: Skoda launching the Laura vRS soon? *UPDATE* BHPian drives it Pg.13

No suspension changes is a disappointment. My TSI also rides on 16 inch wheels, so no difference at all. The front bumpers look good but the grill must have been changed to mesh type also. Looks a bit odd now.

Instead of RS, Skoda could have called it L&K. TSI always deserved better features and its a welcome move for all prospective petrol Laura buyers. On its own, the suspension too is fine in the current car which provides a great balance between ride and handling, good steering feedback and doesn't bottom out even at the worst of speed breakers our roads present. Whats disappointment though is they must not have called it VRS.

re: Skoda launching the Laura vRS soon? *UPDATE* BHPian drives it Pg.13

My biggest expectation from the RS was stiffly tuned sporty suspension, if it does come with it does not really deserve a RS badge. What good is a RS if it is same to drive as the Ambiente variant?
