re: Skoda launching the Laura vRS soon? *UPDATE* BHPian drives it Pg.13

the body kit doesn't suit the ride height & the wheels, prefer the plain tsi look to be honest..

Agreed.

In fact, the old Octavia (Octavia I) is the best looking Skoda (in fact one of the best looking 3 box sedans - a real classic, IMO).

Laura (Octavia II) is a step backwards in terms of looks (the facelift made it just bearable).

Not bringing in the 2.0 TSI for the VRS for fuel quality and fuel efficiency concerns is understandable. But if it comes with the same suspension and tires as the ambiente/ elegance versions then there is no difference in the way it runs or rides. All that it delivers is visual appeal and 'sporty intent' . No fun IMO. The VRS was never going to set the sales chart on fire, so why the conservative approach? You might as well give the enthusiasts the full package. Viz. stronger motor, stiffer suspension, bigger wheels, bigger brakes, esp etc etc.....

Looks like i wont be exchanging my TSI for the Vrs after all. I was hoping for 17 inch, DSG, Climate control, sunroof, different tune on the engine. I rather just get the body kit and wheels along with a remap and suspension and call it a day.

@i turbo - Please PM when u decide to sell the A4. Will buy it.

What is the meaning of this! This is not a vRS. It's just another Skoda with a vRS badge and a loud shade.

No up-sized wheels, no suspension-mods, no DSG, same engine as the regular Laura. Is Skoda pulling a fast one on the 'enthusiasts' in our country?

This is a classic case of down-grading for the Indian market.

Tisk tisk, Skoda.

Best for someone looking for Rs styling would be to pick Luara classic, change the bumper and add other bits from here www.superskoda.com to Rs style, and will still have some cash left out compared to the pricing of Vrs for addon suspension, wheels and tyres.

I wonder what Skoda is smoking is they are giving out 17 Lakh rupees car with new front bumper, sports seats, Vrs steering, spoiler and other small bits.

What is that ? What is Skoda thinking? This looks like my Ambiente has gotten the rear spoiler and the front grill fitted after market.

Not even 17" is just a let down. This is an absolute sorry excuse for an RS.

I had a word yesterday with a SE from Skoda, to his knowledge the VRS will come with a 2L, 200 PS engine and from his inputs Skoda is planning for a Deepawali launch.

Shall keep all posted as and when I receive any further inputs.

Happy Motoring !!

I have really funny experiences of Skoda SE's and their knowledge of product planning .

But I wish what he told you becomes true.

Got some news from a Skoda insider who's also watching this thread keenly:

True, they are 16 inchers but not the same as the Jetta (similar, though)

The vRS will probably come with a new suspension, new foglamps, new bumpers, all-black interiors including the headliner, chrome pedal cluster, sunroof, new ICE, new colours and many small enhancements. DSG is definite, though whether standard or optional am not sure.

Also, launch much before Diwali expected.
