My friend, so does shark performance, celtic tuning, revo offers, one can remap using OBD port through handheld device. Unitronic chipped figures looks far less than most others offering 200+.

Blue Baby sitting at Giriraj Motors.. Looks incredible in person. I'd hit this car up once I'm done with my TSI EMIs in May next year.. 8 months of painful wait.. hehhehehehe

re: Skoda Laura vRS launched @ Rs.15.19L

So lets see -
Front Bumper with Fogs ~ 35k.
Leather Seats ~ 40K (Stanley)
16 inch Alloys ~ 40k (8-10k per wheel incl trade in of the old 15in rims)
Stiffened Suspension ~ 4-5k to FREE (Considering your swapping)
Audio System ~ 20k MAX
Sun Roof ~ 15k (pure guesstimate)

Yea.. 16-17L is ok if ur looking at the TSI as a 13.5 Lac On Road.
BUT I got my TSI for 11.10 On road during the promotions.. so thats 5lacs over.. umm thats a bad deal.

Partly alacantra has been used too (as advertised) which is much more expensive. Also stanley leather package for a laura IMO must be more, I got a 41k quotation for my Polo!

You will need to change the tires too then which will further add to the cost!

No clue.

Audio System ~ 20k MAX
I believe they sell the RCD510/ Bolero at around 65k. Not sure though.

Sun Roof ~ 15k (pure guesstimate)
Aftermarket sunroofs cost anywhere between 50k to 1L and the fitting still wont be as perfect as OEM. Leakage problems etc or so I have heard.

Thats a steal! Is it for the Classic or the Ambiente? How much is the registration in Haryana? I remember them advertising the Classic for 10.99 ex-showroom!
You seem to have missed taking the xenon headlamps with dynamic leveling, side airbags, rear spoiler, sports pedals etc in account

IMO the vRS has been packaged well but with today's petrol prices seeing only north, I feel people would prefer picking a diesel. Also the Laura sales for the month of August dont seem to be good despite the ongoing promotions.

I agree, wholeheartedly. The 16" make the car look seriously under-cooked. Especially if it's a yellow or a red vRS.

Top Gear says that steering-mounted controls come in the way of driver-enjoyment, or something like that. Apparently, the steering-wheel should be free of buttons and other such mundane things. If it's a car that's got performance as its priority, then there should be no distractions for the driver, in the form of buttons on the steering wheel. A plane-jane steering wheel shows that this car means serious business. Right.

I sort of agree with them on this.

But there are two things I can't seem to fathom.

With buttons on the steering wheel, won't the driver be less distracted while driving, since it gives them the option to control audio-settings and so on without having to take his/hands off the steering wheel, thus giving 'driving' the priority?

Also, if this is truly a drivers' car, distinguished from the other 'sedate' Laura variants, why does it come with the same 1.8 engine that produces the same 160 horses. They should have might as well included the steering-mounted audio-controls in that case. After all, how much more serious a car is it, than the regular Laura?

Skoda is completely and utterly confused.

Again, a great feature. Much like the electrically-adjustable seats. What are they doing by omitting these features? Making it lighter, so that it can go 0.5 seconds faster to a 100 from a standstill? Pah!

re: Skoda Laura vRS launched @ Rs.15.19L

I think the premium Skoda is charging above the Laura TSi is unreasonable. If it had given the 2.0 TFSi it would have been better instead of cosmetic mods added to a Laura TSi. Better buy a TSi and wait and go in for the Brio to be kept in the boot in case the Skoda starts to act up.

re: Skoda Laura vRS launched @ Rs.15.19L

I am unable to understand why everyone here is bashing the vRS when even the Octavia vRS shared the 150hp mill with the Rider.

The Superb and previous generation passat too were offered with the 1.8TSi in the same tune and were by no means slouch.

I believe in an earlier post a fellow member pointed out that the 2.0TFSi wouldnt bring in too much of a performance gain over the 1.8TSi.

Before you talk tuning - VAG have encrypted the ECU's with a 1024 bit encryption ket making it difficult to remap some ECU's. Please check before handing your readies!

Ya it was me..but it was on another thread here is the same info again.

The official timings of TSI 1.8 by skoda UK are less than 8 seconds about 7.8 seconds with 95/91 octane fuel . Here is some info for the same.....

The vRS is not so fast either just 7.2 seconds thats why Skoda dropped the idea of 2.0 liter engine.

I think the 1.8 TSi is more than enough for the Indian conditions. The fuel here available is not much good either and the 2 litre motor only performance with min 95 oct which is hard to get everywhere.

There is an interesting video from Unitronic on flashing the car through the OBD port.

The TSi upto 2010 could be remapped easily, but starting from the 2011 models, one needs to physically open the ECU to flash it. I doubt anyone would want to mess with the warranty of a new Skoda!

There are tuners who have been doing remap even on 2011 models on the Audi which shares the same engine and successfully doing it. Same also observed on Seat Leon model sharing the same 1.8Tsi engine.
Will have to wait and watch until someone here gets it first.

Where did you get this info from? Why would you need to open up the ecu?

All these reflashes do is flash it back to german specs and a little more.
I forgot to mention VAS or VAG com will only bring it back to German specs. You can not tune the ecu further safely further using the same map from the factory. You wil have to upload another file which has a more aggressive tune.

What i mean is for example..
The 1.8 which comes in my A4 has 160 from factory, in europe the same car has 180. After remap my car will be at 195 according to the revo site. I run 97 octane so i should be well over 200+.
