The alloys look similar to the ones on the Accord isnt it? The double spoked star formation.

Hope they really revamp the interiors.

Forgot to ask this in my previous post, but is there any reason for the 'road-test' if it is purely cosmetic?

Re: Autocar India scoop: 2012 Honda City Facelift pics

As per Bharath Autos scoop on Thai Honda City, Scoop! Honda City Facelifted Version Soon dated 6 June 2011, soon to be launched about October, the ANHC there seems quite a different package from the scoop here.

Is Honda discriminating with Indian market?

Doesn't look any different from the current model apart from the black orvm and alloys.

Edit : Wow !! The Thai auto scoop Honda city is quite a looker.

I don't think the production version of the Thai-City would come with those front/rear lights. However, it might be different from the ones you see on the current City. I would expect more change on the inside.

Perhaps, Honda will look to improve the quality of the plastics used in the interior and maybe even provide it with some new features that it desperately needs, like auto-climate-control, CD player, auto-fold mirrors, etc. in the face-lifted City.

That was a souped up concept version displayed at Australia in 2009. Nothing to do with Thai/ Indian city changes.

Yes, it was a concept they had displayed back then. Just hope the Asian version is not different and better from the Indian sub-continent one.

The alloys look after market fits and nothing 'new' really at the front if you see!
If Honda are indeed bringing in some changes, then they better be this:

1. Climate control.
2. Better plastics.
3. Hopefully the ctdi engine, but again, thats wishful thinking. Am sure Honda will give a sunroof or cruise control with it.

I believe in a simple rule - If it's not broken, don't fix it!
The Honda facelift is typical of Honda's strategy here in India and most other markets.

Honda models+products have a typical shelf life of about 4-6 years, during which Honda will keep introducing minor tweaks and facelifts, subtle design changes, and after which they will go for a complete and comprehensive overhaul.

Personally I don't agree to this philosophy and it was just one of the reasons (albeit a minor one) I went for a Fiat Linea T-Jet. It delights new customers, no doubt, but you buy a Honda and two years down the line with new models running circles around your car, your car starts looking dated!!

This thing is not particular to Honda only but to every other car manufacturer in the country.

For example - Maruti did a complete revamp of WagonR in 2010. Hyundai did this to Verna this year and so Ford did to its Fiesta.

There is nothing wrong in this IMO.

Exactly. Companies have to keep their products attractive throughout the life of them.

Only thing customer can do is to hold on if he/she smells a near future facelift/model change.

Any changes coming in after say one year or so is at best ignored.

ANHC is due for a facelift since there was only the addition of V variant since the launch IIRC.

Re: Autocar India scoop: 2012 Honda City Facelift pics

Why would they road test a car to check for cosmetic changes. Its done mainly for mechanical changes rite?
So, can we assume, a cruise control is being tested out? And a 4 wheel discs.
I would say, these will give a better edge than wasting out on sunroof.
Personally, would prefer to have cruise control over ACC.

City's advanced steering wheel from au website.

There are many other features which the Honda City in India does not have! The owner manual says for some types!

Re: Autocar India scoop: 2012 Honda City Facelift pics

I wish they provide the following in the MMC version.

1. CD player
2. Electrically retractable ORVMs
3. More lights inside (map/reading lights near IRVM)
4. ACC
5. Better tyres (195 profile)
6. Better headlight bulbs (current ones are pretty weak)
7. Better/bigger arm rest in the middle

All the above will cost about 40-50k and with the running 75k+ discounts on ex-showroom price, it will still be well priced.

Where in India are you going to use a cruise control??????

It is, in my opinion, the most useless feature that can be (besides button start) in Indian conditions!
