Skoda runs out of Laura kits

Skoda auto is in a fix, which most importers of SKD kits would want to be in.
They have run out of kits for Laura due to unprecedented demand. Looks like service costs and high price are not a reason enough for people to choose other options. Skoda rules the roost in sub 20lac segment.
However embera is currently being given the discount treatment. 1 lakh off.

Wow... that sure is surprising... I mean the Laura is definitely a nice car. But is it really worth that price?

Any idea what the sales figures are like?

Hmmm, looks like the March AutocarIndia is released.

Skoda is value if u buy it new since u have warranty (+extended) to support u.Hence, the Laura's demand since u get it only off the shelf.

Octy's resale value is taking a huge dip since the last quarter.

Oh goody. Now they just need to 'rationalize' spares and maintenance costs....I'd love to get one.

They may not have had many kits in the first place. Also , a la Innova, swift etc, this is just an initial surge.

Without actual numbers, this statement means nothing. They could have expected 30 orders, and got 50. That for them is unprecendented demand.

However, the article also states that the Laura has not affected the Accord sales at all.

Ok here are the numbers...
They had expected to sell about 400 Laura's so far, but the demand is higher than what they expected. Skoda ruled out initial surge as cause of this, because they went in for a soft launch without spending much on promos, yet.

Further the demand is higher for the DSG version than for the manual version...
