Fabia refresh

Hi All,

Fabia gets refreshed (actually stripped). Here are the details of the refresh:

Classic gets renamed as Active
Ambienet gets renamed as Ambition
Elegance remains Elegance

Fabia has gone the other manufacturers way and have removed the two base variants of safety features (Classic had Driver Airbag & Ambienet had driver & passenger airbag).

Plus they introduce two new variants Active plus (all power windows) and Ambienet Plus (power windows + folding keys).

For Elegance model they have added Rear Wiper/Washer + defogger and now you get 15" Alloys.

So clear strategy is to please "people", "in-line" with other companies and Polo. So focus is on features / convenience rather than safety. Disappointing to have Skoda go other manufacturers way and not put safety first!

So buy the old Classic / Ambienet till stocks are there with safety features and add the other bells & whistels aftermarket.

Re: Fabia refresh

Can you please provide the source of the information please. I checked the Skoda website and there is no such news. They still do have the old variants in place.

Re: Fabia refresh

Is the Lauretta specs/pricing/positioning driving this? Will the Lauretta have similar variants to compete with the other C segmenters?

Re: Fabia refresh

It's Ambiente, not Ambienet as you have consistently spelt it.

Also, you say that the Ambiente is now the Ambition. How come then there is still an Ambiente Plus version? Should it not be Ambition plus?

May I ask what the source of your information is?

Re: Fabia refresh

Same name changes have happened to Laura as well. Classic is now Active, Ambiente is now Ambition. Features havent changed yet on the website.

Re: Fabia refresh

Ambition sounds too bad. Reminds me of Hero Honda Ambition too. Ambient was nice.
What's with Skoda's naming these days?

@ethanhunt123 Have they got rid of the safety features in Laura Active too?! I hope not!

The websites doesnt seem to suggest so. It still comes with Airbags+ABS like the Classic - differences are more cosmetic like lower audio system, no front fogs, centre armrest etc.

This is a huge fillip for the elegance trim and a much needed one. Go for it.

Re: Fabia refresh

@noopster - sorry for the faux pas on variant name.

All.. the information is from Skoda itself. Here are the specs from their official brochure.

Fabia refresh-fabia-new-page-2.jpg

As you can see the lack of safety features is definitely a big disappointment. I am seriously contemplating taking existing discounts and go for the Elegance model - can live with 14" alloys and live without the defogger and rear washer / wiper.

Re: Fabia refresh

More info for people who are looking at buying Fabia, here is the pricing info:

Variant Ex-showroom Karnataka (Rs.)
Škoda Fabia Active 1.2MPI 444,944
Škoda Fabia Ambition 1.2MPI 492,024
Škoda Fabia Active 1.2TDI CR 553,878
Škoda Fabia Ambition 1.2 TDI CR 601,970
Škoda Fabia Active Plus 1.2MPI 465,110
Škoda Fabia Ambition Plus 1.2MPI 506,110
Škoda Fabia Active Plus 1.2TDI CR 574,044
Škoda Fabia Ambition Plus 1.2 TDI CR 616,056

No info on Elegance pricing change. Dealer thinks it may increase by a few thousand. Looking at stripping of features & thus indirect price increase, I will not be very surprised. Skoda is really smoking something.

Re: Fabia refresh

Sad to see other variants losing safety kit but the elegance has really gained in this revision by Skoda. Now apart from the good exterior looks, Fabia has Polo beaten for most other things including kit and rich interiors.

The new 15 inch alloy is none other than the one from Polo and no different. Got to see how good this would make the boring looking but practical Fabia.

The Elegance still misses power OVRMs. If only Skoda added those, the fabia would have been a near- perfect small Diesel, if you disregard the horror tales about Skoda service.
