Mercedes-Benz India is finally on a roll, beyond being on a roll it's finally getting to know that to be #1 you need all the spectrum of products and not just stick to high end and live on the high thinking your brand is above the others,

Better late than never, they finally have come out with the E220 CDI which under cuts the price of the E250 CDI Elegance by 2.2 Lac and gets the price of the car to 3,874,223 Ex-Showroom Ahmedabad. I still fail to understand why they are not making announcements for all these new variants?

Please note the cars in Elegance trim which leaves Mercedes to further get a lower variant in terms of the Classic trim at about 37.5L or even lower if needed under the E200 CDI.

And lastly please note the E220CDI uses the same engine as the 250CDI in a lower tune developing 400 Nm of torque @ 1400 rpm and has a 0-100 time of 8.4 seconds, a perfect car for those who will be chauffeured around in.

But the Mercedes site quotes E 250 CDI Elegance at Rs. 42,90,267. In that case, the difference is Rs. 4L?

Thanks a lot yes thats my typing error, the price I mentioned was the E200 CGI (Petrol) and the E250CDI Elegance is 4,290,266 and E250CDI Classic is 4,151,614

Thats a good move by Mercedes,taking the competition straight to the 520D.I think can wean away a few buyers from the 5,those who prefer to be chauffeured around,and was going for the 5 for the attractive price-tag.They should advertise these changes,with falling car sales all the german 3 have been heavily advertising in the past month or 2.

Hmm... Well a friend of mine picked up an E250 CDi Elegance a couple of months back with a whooping 5lakhs off on the OTR Price. If MB is still offering the same discount on the E250, the new E220 doesnt make much sense at this price.
