The UP & the Citigo are the exact answers to that. Both cars should sell good nos. in the market. Volkswagen AG's mantra is simple, customer cant afford a Audi, sell the VW, if not the Skoda & still not then the Seat. Honestly that's a damn good way of ensuring that the customer ends up buying one or the other model of their car.

They were aiming for the "World's #1 Car Manufacturer" position by piggy-backing on Suzuki. Now that the deal is almost busted, they need to introduce products in all price ranges left/right & center to ensure they have some car for every customer who walks into their dealerships. Even if it mean cannibalization within their own products (a la Maruti Suzuki).

Yep, the front looks like Estilo and the rear is more like Modus.

If VW group is serious about competition, they need to beef up their service atleast to match Maruti/Toyota/Honda standards in India.

It's plain but I dont find it boring.If they come with a small diesel engine, I wouldn't mind buying it if its priced well.
I honestly feel there is enough scope for a nice little puny diesel car in the 3-4L price bracket.

Much-loved Skoda Citigo is a no-go for India

I'm not surprised.

This car is primarily meant for developing markets. And VW had India on its mind when the Up! was conceived. I don't think they would want Skoda stepping in and gate-crashing their party, now would they? The Citigo and the Up! will not be sold together in India. The Up! will be given prime importance. Period.

Five Star or not the Citigo needs to be 4 door to sell in India. The rear seat space needs to be more spaceous or it will go the way of the poor selling Astar.
