Re: Refreshed TATA Grande (SUMO badge vanished)

Are there any technical changes to this? I guess its a mere cosmetic upgrade.

An excerpt from the website :

Get ready to take on the world with this highway predator, now fitted with a chrome lined broad front grill and side finishers with new glossy grey finish, chrome inserted rub rails, new Chrome lined door handles, sporty steel wheel rims and blinkers on ORVMs and stunning new body graphics.

The rim looks bigger with a bit low profile Tyre. I may be wrong. And seems like the Grande comes in 2 engine options, 1948 cc turbo and 2179cc Dicor. I may be wrong but i knew of only 1 engine variant of 2179cc in the sumo grande.

Is this a limited edition or something? And has anyone seen that graphics before? I feel it resembles Scorpio Getaway !

The online ads for the Tata Grande say that the price starts 7.2 lakh.

The website indicates that the 2.2L (rounded up?) is the only engine capacity.

The variants are Cx, Lx, Ex, and Gx (in order of price) with the Cx Turbo variant starting at 6.4 lakh (Cx Grande starts at 7.2 lakh) and Gx Dicor variant command 8.5 lakh. The Lx variant adds airconditioning, Ex adds power windows, and Gx adds rear-window demister, driver seat height adjustment, and keyless entry.

Just saw the TVC. Must commend TATA on doing a wonderful job with the marketing antic... Just hope the car too lives up to the billing.

This site showed two variants. Now that you mentioned, I checked out the TATA site and could not find any such info. Looks like wrong info on that site. And my mistake of not checking out the official site first.

Re: Refreshed TATA Grande (SUMO badge vanished)

Tata made this vehicle and still positioned it such a way nether cabbies nor private buyers find it purposeful.

80's style dash and poor fitted Interiors are still a huge let down

sticker and some chrome will not find more takers is MHO

Now GX variant costs 8.6L ex- showroom price increased by 1.05L since launch with no value additions to the vehicle.

Finally, nice move on finally dropping the Sumo branding.

Disappointing Interiors. Why No ABS option? Why Leaf Spring Rear suspension? Whom are they trying to target? The low end Scorpio buyers? Don't think such a strategy would work very well. Another wasted opportunity IMO.

Re: Refreshed TATA Grande (SUMO badge vanished)

Those pathetic interiors killed the product and it remains the same, don't see this revision helping the sales charts.

Re: Refreshed TATA Grande (SUMO badge vanished)

So they just renamed the Vehicle from Sumo Grande to Grande, added a few graphical stickers and call it All New?

What's wrong, Tata? And this, coming after the Vista refresh which is well appreciated!

Re: Refreshed TATA Grande (SUMO badge vanished)

The ad shows that it still handles like crap. Because size matters, not handling.

Re: Refreshed TATA Grande (SUMO badge vanished)

I was looking forward to this refresh after the vista refresh was announced. I am disappointed that TML does not think it fit to have ABS \ airbags even as an option on a 8+ lac Dicor vehicle ( the turbo is targetted at cab fraternity) whereas they do have it on the Manza Elan which is similarly priced and from the TML stable . This is a major turn off for someone looking to buy this against the Xylo even as an option of a family vehicle . A huge Thumbs down. I better wait for the the ertiga( or is it ergita ) from MUL. That would fit the bill of a family runabout.
