I dont think they would charge the full value if the vehicle isint delivered on time. Generally atleast in mumbai it is available as ready delivery.

Maruti offers festival discounts but am unsure of whether Honda does so too. If it does, the new Honda owners bought it knowing there was a festival season coming up so they knew they were paying a premium to have an early purchase.

BTW, Maruti offers a great deal of about 25k as festival pricing on the SX4. If you know there's a major festival coming up, ask the dealer if they can get you the discount.

Oh my gawd ! 7.94 ex showroom will also mean a lesser road tax and a lesser insurance premium right ? How much does it come upto on road in Bangalore ?

It didn't make sense to buy a petrol city 4 months back. Now, it doesn't make sense if you don't buy one

any clue on what "extra" is available on the face-lifted version? Is it the same engine? Does it have ACC? Any clue on expected pricing?

re: Honda City price : Another 70,000 rupee discount

Didn't City do remarkably well in the last couple of months since the price drop ?
Now why a 70k discount again only for 5 days ?
Honda seems to be going the Ford way !!

re: Honda City price : Another 70,000 rupee discount

Wow great discount! It could be due to the inventory clearance to make way for upcoming facelift as some members have commented. So could the facelift come sometime in October itself - before Diwali? No additional discount on AT version?

OT - City did well after the June price cut and for September 3720 units were sold (per a Times of India report published couple of hrs ago) which is a significant drop from August and most likely dropping behind Verna for the month - but pretty decent considering pre-festival month, petrol price increase and RBI rate hike.

They can't go back to the "hey" days even when the face lift comes, see what happened to the Jazz prices for the face lifted version. With their new plant opened they need to sell as many pieces as possible to stay afloat. They better innovate and bring in a smart hybrid and price it right or get diesel tech from else where. Honda prices are dropping at alarming pace that will even hit the resale of it's cars that have been at the pinnacle all these years.

+1 . I too believe that Honda will have a tough time getting back to their good old days. The constant rise in fuel prices and a lack of diesel mill will continue to cost them dearly.
On a different note, its the best time to lap up a Honda. Make it City now.

re: Honda City price : Another 70,000 rupee discount

Isn't the "good resale value of Honda" affected here.

I know specific instances where a pre-owned car dealer reduced the cost for City from the "Agreed upon" cost when the prices were reduced a few months back, Now a cut again.

Already, the original Jazz owners are unable to sell in the used car market as the price they are quoting is equal to the price of the new Jazz, they have bear huge losses if they have to offer a lucrative price.

So, if this trend continues: Honda owners will not be able to sell their cars at a good rate. On the other hand, people looking to buy in the pre-owned cars market will make a killing!

re: Honda City price : Another 70,000 rupee discount

As many have pointed out, this is a pre-facelift clearance sale. Applicable on the current stock with the dealers, so delivery is immediate.

Just got home a S MT for 85K discount + accessories.

The heading of this post is misleading the DWS Auto just confirms the discounts that are already being given out on the Honda City in the last two months.

There is no price cut, which means ex-showroom and road tax remains the same.

re: Honda City price : Another 70,000 rupee discount

There may be some catch to it. And is it delivery in 5 days or booking in 5 days? To me this is sounding like catch as much as bookings possible in the festive season in the next 5 days as these are very important and auspicious days to many for buying something, Navratri and especially Dussera. Mostly it looks like Honda probably wanting to cash on the sentiments as the offer is only said to be upto Oct 5 (and not upto stocks last ). It is not even Oct 6 which is Dussera, when loads of people throng dealers to book or get delivery of their car, so they want to earn there also by getting many more people to book before the D-day than just relying on D-day.

re: Honda City price : Another 70,000 rupee discount

this may be because of the dual effect:
1. Petrol prices: With petrol prices on the rise, these cars have limited buyer.
2. Facelift Version: To clear inventory and facelift version around the corner they may be taking up this strategy.
