Re: Mercedes-Benz introduces Star Lease in India

Indeed a first by any luxury car maker in our country which will bring more of their 3 pointed stars on our roads. Surely they are facing some severe heat from the other 2 Germans (BMW, Audi) and other 2 European neighbours VW, JLR and have to keep a step forward to survive here.

Re: Mercedes-Benz introduces Star Lease in India

Thats nice information. Any idea of the extra costs incurred while entering into a lease and also while exiting the lease.

So for example, I enter into a lease for a Mercedes SL Class; apart from the monthly rental, how much extra would I have to pay (a ballpark figure) to just sign the lease. And then say, I am dissatisfied with my lease and I exit after one month, how much more do I pay to exit it?

Re: Mercedes-Benz introduces Star Lease in India

Being this India, where we are more prone to accidents, who will pay for damages if entered in Lease. As far as I know, we have to kept the car as it is during the lease period and its next to impossible in India. What you say ?

Me thinks, in a few years, we'll have excellent used car options in this space, especially if the other two also join in.

Re: Mercedes-Benz introduces Star Lease in India

Leasing has been successful abroad for several benefit in terms of tax saving and depreciation. Will this be applicable in India?

@GTO- You have been a fan of the leasing format. Now can we expect a leased c63 AMG to replace your C220CDi ?

Guys, a short telephone call to your nearest friendly Merc dealer should help you get the exact numbers

Re: Mercedes-Benz introduces Star Lease in India

DROOL!! Will they lease me a G55 AMG for say two days? Thats probably all I would afford.

But a good move. I can at-least dream now. No liabilities is a big weight off the shoulders. Will help a lot of fleet operators, considering the lease agreements are valid.

Re: Mercedes-Benz introduces Star Lease in India

Not just tax saving - leasing rather than outright purchase is useful for customers who compulsively change their cars every 2 or 3 years. Good move by Mercedes.

Re: Mercedes-Benz introduces Star Lease in India

MB might be eyeing corporates who want to provide some sort of a premium vehicle to senior staff as a perk. This way, they don't get to buy something and maintain it. Probably show this as a CTC component in the paypacket.

A step further, some tax benefits maybe?
