as per news report in today economic times ford fusion failed in side impact crash test in USA.

Is it the same fusion sold in India or is it different. Indian Fiesta is quite different from UK and US.

Hi!
i do not know wheather it is the same fusion. but imagine if it is failing the crash test in usa where the norms are tight than in india. it is on the last page of today's economic times. it says it passed frontal crash but not side impact. but the it also says most cars pass frontal crash.

The Fusuion in the US is the same in name only. Based on the Mazda 6

Its the Mondeo thats sold as the Fusion in the US. So its the Mondy thats failed the side impact crash test.

Basically the Economic Times is misleading the readers due to their ignorance. But what are chances of Indian Fusion passing the same test.

Not exactly - mondy and Mazda 6 are derived from similar platforms. Please see below

http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_sh...1_ford_fusion/

Ford hopes the Fusion, scheduled for release sometime this fall as a 2006 model, will be its next mid-size powerhouse. Ford desperately needs this car to help it to bounce back from a disappointing 2004, which saw it lose 1.2 percent of its U.S. market share. Significantly smaller than the Taurus, the Fusion will be built on a modified Mazda 6 platform. The front-wheel-drive car gets either a 160-hp, 2.3-liter in-line four (five-speed manual or automatic trannies) or a 210-hp, 3.0-liter V-6 (six-speed automatic only). All-wheel drive will be a later option.

Fusion didn't fail the test but was rated "Poor" in side impact crash and marginal in rear crash.

The IIHS.org site tells you full details on how some cars fared in the tests.

they should put the Ford Fusion on test in India also.. thats when people will know if the story is true or not..

If not anybody Volunteers to do so on Team - BHP!!
cheers!!

This video discusses the crash test results of the tested mid-sizers.

Fusion has got many positive reviews here and is selling well. LIncoln zephyr also shares the same platform.

Its totally different from the Indian Ford Fusion.

US Fusion is a stretched and widended Mazda6 with their 2.3 world engine. So the question is, how did the Mazzy do in the same test.

iTS A fORD Style to spoil good vehicles. mazda manufactures car on the same platform but doesnt build the same car hence it would have performed better.
