Great find! Put blunder aside, their reply stating it being Tata Venture is more more lolworthy.

Maybe they are trying to say that the "competition" is running away!!:

This would qualify as the blunder of all time. Only saving grace is it is a sketch and not a photograph.

Or, may be, Tata and Mahindra are merging

OMG this is a blunder of EPIC proportions. Sure, for all of us its good for a handful of chuckles at TATA's expense but how will they clean this mess? I mean this is historical and will make for case studies world over

I have tweeted to Anand Mahindra. Will see if he will respond to it.
But cannot imagine how Tata motors can be so blind about it and moreover reply saying that it is Tata Venture. They should have checked again. Would love to send this link to Tata Motors people and see how they will respond to it.

But this is really funny.

Oh God, I'm still rubbing my eyes in disbelief. Being a shareholder, I should have opted to get the copy of the annual report in print rather than email. It must be a masterpiece to get hold of.

This is the best scoop. Thanks a lot for sharing.
In Tata Motors, every department is following the footsteps of their after sales support division and trying to match up in quality of work.
The PR division seems to have made great progress in that area.

Seriously, this is a very shameful state for TATA in spite of someone highlighting the mistake, they tried to justify it. I am sure this would be a copyright infringement from TATA to use a Mahindra sketch in their report. Hope they have dumped the agency who prepared the layout of this report and kicked out their corp communication head (he/she owns this report) for the blunder.

Oh that makes it more interesting. And I can also imagine a number of people (big and small) must have doing that. Can't wait to see how he or M & M responds. And while you were at it - why not tweet it to Ratan T (or is he not on Twitter?).

But I think these two guys are brothers in arms and maybe Mahindra will let this one pass and not make Tata pay.

Re: Blunder of 2011: Tata Motor's Annual Report uses Mahindra Maxximo images on each

Ofcourse Mahindra will not sue Tata for this. Its more of a human mistake then active copyright infringement issue. But seriously Mr. Tata needs to wake up and start issuing the pink slip a little more to create some sort of responsibility amongst the staff specially the senior staff.

Why would Mahindra sue Tata ? The time is ripe for some of the tongue-in-cheek advertising that was so prevalent in the 90s (remember "Nothing Official About it?"). Anand Mahindra is probably having a hearty chuckle over this!

Incredible.

But how did we miss it for a month? (original posting date 03 Oct)

Actually there is a very simple explanation (not excuse) for this.

Re: Blunder of 2011: Tata Motor's Annual Report uses Mahindra Maxximo images on each

We need to understand one thing, i.e. mistakes do happen, but unfortunately for Tata, this is a big blunder in tough times. Really tough times when they have lost their "known for Quality orientation" CEO and its products are not living upto their potential, mainly Vista and Manza range. Apart from this, Mahindra has actually stolen the spotlight with XUV.

In these times having a competitors image on annual report is a shocking thing which is of-course, very embarrassing. This type of blunders is not giving positive signals to the industry and customers. Just think what the potential customer would think when he realizes that its Maximo image and not Ace. Yes, its a fact that many of the potential customers wont even have a look at annual report and/or maximo/venture, but still its not a positive sign.

Those who would have seen this would even feel that if this is quality of annual report blunders, what would be quality of products ? Without any QC ?

Lets just hope that Tata is improving things on assembly lines and R&D atleast.
