Innova G3 Petrol Variant - FE and Mtn Costs

Hi,

I like the Innova a lot

Am planning to buy a Innova Petrol G3 .
The local dealer is giving a discount of upto 75 K to 80 K on the G3 petrol variant. But it is a 2005 mfcr.

I am not too averse to the whole thing as i do not buy with a view to sell . So no point in worrying about resale value , etc... My current car is a Zen which i have been having for around 9 yrs.

Wanted to know from the current users of Innova G3 Petrol the fuel effeciency and the maintainence costs

Maintainence wise, you should have any problems. Though our Innova has not yet covered enuf mile for it to get serviced, it should be anywhere between 1500-1800 for a service.

Our Innova gives around 12-13kmpl on the highway (at speeds ranging from 100 to 120kmph). Haven't checked it's efficiency within the city.

It's a nice family vehicle and drives well too.

That is awesome...I guess then the Petrol Innova with the discounts should be available at Rs. 1.5 lakhs lesser than the same spec-ed Diesel Model...

For people who are driving around 70-80 kms a day - a Petrol Model would make much more sense..

Resale value of Petrol Model will be lesser..but if someone plans to keep the vehicle for 5-8 yrs...Petrol makes more sense..!

No. For 70-80 kms/day, diesel makes more sense than a petrol.

Assumptions : Petrol = Rs 45/ltre, Diesel = Rs 30/ltre
Daily Driving = 70 kms
Mileage of Petrol Innova = Diesel Innova = 9 kmpl
Price Difference between a same spec Petrol & Diesel Innova = Rs 1.5 lakhs

It would require 1571 days of driving(@ 70 km/day) to make up for the Rs. 1.5 lakhs difference in cost .

that is roughly around 51 months...or 4 yrs 3 months...for the break even..

Worth it ??? to buy a Petrol...Yes I think so...

Anything beyond 70 kms/day --> maybe diesel
Anything less than 70 kms/day --> petrol..

Offcourse...Resale may change the equation in favour of the Diesel Variant..
