If only fiat had been better in sales and ***, rather than sharing its technology, they would have been the king in the diesel hatchback/entry level C segment sedans by a huge margin.

FIAT committed 2 blunders IMO,
1. They overpriced Punto by atleast 50k & Linea by 100k
2. They tried to sell & sevice at TATAs

Although their market share is falling, their overall sales (in numbers) has seen a general increase. This labour issue is just a small thorn which they will get by and will tap open many more exciting segments I feel. Count on Them :-)

Cheers!

Car makers post rise in November sales; Maruti down for 6th time - The Economic Times

The company has been hit by dip in sales in its bread and butter segment, mini cars including the M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, which fell by 27.24 per cent to 38,921 units from 53,489 units in November, 2010.

In contrast, rival Hyundai Motor India said its sales increased 10.97 per cent to 35,000 units from 31,540 units in the same month last year.

Wasn't the M-800 discontinued, why are they referring to the M-800 ?

M800 is discontinued only in Tier-1 cities; it is on sale on all other cities.

IIRC, it will be completely off the market in 2015.
