One is a UP/Lupo that is a regular 5-door hatch :

Attachment 847662

The other is UP Space which has a diff. door arrangement :

Attachment 847663

Wonder which of the 3 will come to India.

VW can surprise you! Look what they did with the Beetle.

The massive manufacturing-unit in Pune was constructed keeping the Up! in mind. So what do you reckon the price-tag would be, Sir?

4 lakhs would be good; but I've a feeling they'll start upwards of 4 lakhs at least in the beginning.

There are Indian websites discussing even variant features of UP! Lol!

~ 4 lakhs will take the fight right to Honda's (Brio) and Hyundai's (Eon/i10) doorstep with new-age hatchbacks.

Most Euro spec. cars have the rear wiper and defogger as standard in the base version, from what I have observed.

The base version of the Palio 1.2 came with rear wiper and defogger but without power steering, left ORVM and even wheelcaps in 2001. Rear wiper / demister is a safety priority in Europe, I suppose!

Re: SCOOP Pics! Volkswagen UP spotted in Mumbai

The rear wiper and defogger are mandatory, I believe the Laura also has it. I observed that about the first batch of Palio only very recently, the rear wiper & ABS was the deal maker in me selecting the Punto Emotion. I see you are another Fiat owner. Today I doubt most buyers bother about that, badge and beige will get you customers, safety is a top end accessory.

I am a Fiat owner, but unfortunately, my car does not have rear demister or wiper despite being the mid-version. That is because Fiat learnt its lessons in India soon enough and removed the rear wiper-demister from all but top-end variants while launching the Palio NV and all variants after that. My Palio Stile did not even come with the left ORVM and I had to purchase one.

Now, we're totally .

Re: SCOOP Pics! Volkswagen UP spotted in Mumbai

To me it looks really good!!
And the rear hatch which has the rear glass integrated in it looks much better than that of the brio
Also i so hope they launch this very version , a 2 door at-least as a limited edition . I would love to go for it

Re: SCOOP Pics! Volkswagen UP spotted in Mumbai

Here in 2013- says the cover page of latest issue of Overdrive mag.

So, what do we do the whole 2012? Speculate whether it's 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 doors?

This, the one spotted, must be for the Expo then. But 2013? Isn't it too late?

Re: SCOOP Pics! Volkswagen UP spotted in Mumbai

I can see a very practical city car in this VW.
Boxy shape should generate quite a bit interior space inside.
Car looks quite unusual (for our market) as well.

I hope VW comes up with good engine options

Re: SCOOP Pics! Volkswagen UP spotted in Mumbai

Car looks small and good, but may not succeed if it comes with a 2-door option in India.

Reports indicate a 5 door version! 2 door version seen here could be the Auto fair display unit!

Cheers!

- Not immediately. If they think of a diesel, then maybe the Polo's 1.2 (3 cylinder) at a detuned setting might be plonked in the Up!.

- Don't think so.

- Specifications:

Engine: 1.0L, three-cylinder petrol engine; 5-spd manual, FWD

Power/torque: 59bhp, 74bhp

Top speed: 108mph

Fuel economy: 65.7mpg (miles per gallon)
