re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

Vote for sure goes to XUV500.

Eon was a descent car at the entry level but when compared to options like K10, Santro it does not seem to be exceptional or a definite choice.

Swift has been at the top of the segment in term of sales, no doubt both VVT and DDSi has been upgraded to provide a superior ride quality, material quality (dashboard) has improved (hope the brake issue in L/V is sorted out at the earliest)..all in all has all the ingredients to continues the success story for Maruti but XUV500 surely steals the show this year with its great all round features and sheer VFM tag at this segment.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

Voted for the Verna even though I would never buy it. Reason:
It achieved what it set out to and how! It's not easy to win the hugely competitive C segment battle but the Verna did that with relative ease showing how well Hyundai had done with this product.
The XUV 500 is a close second for me simply because the response it has generated can be partly attributed to the fact that it does not really have competition [Kudos to Mahindra for such a positioning ] and there were quite a few hungry souls to gobble it up. It's real test is yet to come and I only hope they exceed my high expectations. It's good that Mahindra is taking it slow and not being greedy. Respect

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

My vote goes out for XUV5oo.

XUV5oo is a fantastic game-changer which has changed the game for Mahindra in a big way.

That being said, I feel Brio and Rapid are just about there too.

Had Honda not been in the position that it currently is, Brio sales could have taken off well and it could changed quite a few trends in that segment.

Same with Rapid; some more time and it will do damage to City and Verna.

Until that happens, a round of applause for Mahindra for XUV5oo!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

It had to be either the XUV 500 - which is leaps and bounds better than the Scorpio
or
Hyundai Eon - which might well enough overpower Alto to the top spot in a few years time.

Ended up voting for the XUV.

Has to be the XUV5OO. It first shocked us with radical design and then awed us with features and pricing.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

Tough call between XUV and new Verna.
Both being truely game changers.

XUV being more original and pathbreaking seals the deal.

I really feel sad for Eon. A better engine (irde ?) and slightly more competitive pricing would have made wonders to this car and segment.

O.T. : Why is it always like a B or C or at best an affordable SUV seals the deal ?
Is it like only mass selling cars deserve the title ?
I have never seen a 15+ lakh rupees car taking the trophy.

Voted for the XUV500... still wish it gets rid of the ugly whiskers & better 3rd row seating at least.

Sorry, but why is the Swift here then? Isn't it borderline in the refreshed head/tail light category? The engine variants are the same too. It's an all new Swift alright, but to term it as an all new car is a bit far fetched.

OTOH - My vote, without a doubt is for the XUV 500. A huge leap for M&M.

For a moment I thought I would vote for the Fluidic Verna as this is one new Sedan I liked a lot. But then XUV 5OO came and bulldozed every other choice for the TBHP-ICOTY poll. This vehicle is the game changer for this segment and Mahindra has done a fabulous job.

It's an all new car under the skin but made to look like it's predecessor owing to it's success and appeal.
Why fix something if it ain't broken?

I too voted for the XUV 5 double oh. It was a total no brainer for me.

I mean forget the Innova, Aria and Fortuner looking expensive, it even makes the top end versions of its stable mates the Scorpio and Xylo feel over priced. Kudos to Mahindra!

Just waiting for the automatic to be launched.

Very true.
The XUV and the EON are the prospective game changers in their respective segments for this year. Both the cars have implemented bold and radical changes(read design & features) for their respective market segments. However, in my humble opinion, Mahindra has gone a few extra steps with the XUV than what Hyundai has done with their EON. Aggressive pricing also tilts the balance towards the XUV. Also the fact that the XUV is a home-grown SUV speaks plenty about the capability of our Indian automobile industry and kind of makes me proud.

My vote goes to the XUV 500. India's Global SUV.

My vote went for the XUV500, just hope Mahindra gets a more functional 3rd row seating arrangement. Once that is done there is no stopping for the XUV500

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

My vote goes to Mahindra XUV 500. I drove it for almost a day on rural roads last week, it's a huge step forward compared to their previous SUV- Scorpio. Expect for the tacky fit and finish, torque steer, overdone styling bits and overdose of electronics i loved this vehicle. At speed it feels more composed, refined and fun than even the AWD Fortuner. VFM tag is icing on the cake. @Mahindra- Where is the AWD AT variant??

Runner ups for me-
-Maruti Swift
-Hyundai Eon
-Hyundai Verna
-Honda Brio
